Aloha! In this video I show how various newborn Cloth-eez diapers fit on my son. He weighed 6 lbs 14 oz at birth and outgrew newborn prefolds by 10 lbs and 6-weeks-old. Included are organic cotton prefolds in sizes: preemie, newbie, newborn, novice, and small. Workhorse fitted diapers in sizes newborn and small. And Cloth-eez wrap covers in sizes 0 and 1.

Can't buy those in Slovenia... 🙃 I'm also planning ro use mostly flats and prefolds with wool covers and a few fitteds, pockets and PUL covers that I was able to borrow from my friends 💞 who have bigger babies and todlers. A nother great video and cute baby 🥰 lots of love from Europe

Thank you for this video! This was one of the most helpful videos that shows the sizes. I got all newborn prefolds and now I’m a bit worried they won’t fit that long. I was going to pad fold but as a first time mom didn’t even think of the runny poo and blowouts lol 🤦🏻‍♀️ Looks like newborn stuff fits up to 9/10 lbs. when would you say you were able to transition to one size? Hopefully once baby outgrows newborn prefolds he’d fit into my one size covers with flats.

I thought I was going to pad fold, until we had too many poopy covers. It could work if you had a separate cover for almost every diaper change. If Baby can wear newborn predolds up to 10 lbs that should be a good point to transition to One Size. We don't have many OS diapers, but my baby was able to move up from nb at about 10.5 lbs. 💜Heidi

He’s so cute!! This video makes me want to get snappis again. Although I used them with my first, I think I avoided them with my second because I preferred diaper belts. He has grown so much already! His feet are still newborn! And his skin still kinda mottled. But his face is already developing into his own little person 💕

He's growing so fast! Getting chubby. The snuggly newborn days go too fast. Enjoy them! I would have included Snappies, but I thought you didn't want to use them... Your diaper belts should work well! I'm still meaning to make some, but haven't had time yet. 💜 Heidi

How many flats do you suppose i need for a newborn?

I’m having a very hard time deciding between the newbie and newborn prefolds. I know the newbie has 2-6-2 and the newborn has 4-8-4 absorbency but the newbie seems so much trimmer and slightly longer and thinner. Anybody have any opinions? My first baby was 6 lbs 12 oz at birth and fairly tall and skinny. No clue about my second but I assume about the same.

I liked newborn and then novice once we needed something longer. NB didn't seem too bulky to me. We only used NB for about 6 weeks, so we probably got more use out of novice. 💜 Heidi

I think Novice prefolds plus something like newborn muslin half flats would be a good combo. You could get a lot of use out of those. More so than newborn prefolds. 💜 Heidi

I really liked Cloth-eez newborn prefolds and muslin half flats. I jelly rolled the prefolds and use airplane fold for the flats. 💜 Heidi

Also, do you recommend waiting to use wool covers for after the meconium ends? Also, do you have staining from the meconium?? ❤

I like using wool covers from the start. We didn’t experience staining from meconium. We rinsed the cotton diapers with water before putting them in the washing machine. Some people don’t even bother to do that, and the diapers come out fine.

Also, do you know if the newborn workhorse fits well under the BabeeGreens Snap Wrap in newborn? 🤔

I don't have the Snap Wrap version of the Babeegreens wool cover, but I'm guessing the newborn Workhorse would fit fine under it. A good place to ask is in the Green Mountain Diapers Friends group on Facebook. There are probably people who have used that combo. 💜 Heidi

So I bought toddler by accident from lagoon baby and my baby will be one next month how can I use them there so big and I’m really not sure what to do we’ve been. Using pockets diapers and I just finally go flats down now. I’m trying to figure out my pre folds

Are you asking how to use toddler size prefolds on your one year old? I'm not familiar with the sizing of Lagoon Baby. You can try folding up the front of the prefold to shorten the rise to the correct length. Then you might want to use something like the Angle Wing Fold to wrap the prefold around your baby and fasten with a Snappi. Wrapping the prefolds around make them slightly less bulky. I don't have a video of the various folds, but you could search for videos of "prefold folds". I hope you figure something out!

I see some people recommended going from newborn workhorses to mediums and skipping the smalls. Do you know if that's enough overlap or would you prefer to have smalls for a while? :)

Hi Rikky! I don't have medium workhorses to try, but I'm guessing it would work to skip from newborn to medium. There is quite a bit of overlap in newborn and small. My baby has been wearing both for a while now. One trick is to get the "no closure" option and use a Snappi to fasten. That would allow you to keep using newborn a bit longer and start using mediums earlier with the front folded down. I know that some people even skip newborn size, but the newborn Workhorses were too big on my second baby (5 lbs 13 oz at birth). It's hard to know before Baby is born! I ordered some extra newborn Workhorses after my baby was born. Green Mountain Diapers ships right away! 💜Heidi

I have the newborn, smalls and mediums and I used my smalls longer than the newborn size, mostly for absorbency. We still haven’t gotten to our mediums yet. I got the smalls from the last seconds sale but I love having that size in my rotation but you can skip it if you don’t mind the extra bulk from the mediums!

When weight did your baby grow out of the baby greens newborn wool cover?

From my notes: "7 weeks old. After last time we washed and lanolized Babeegreens it felt a bit snug. Setting it aside now at 10 lbs 10oz. Prefer M even though saggy butt. Fits well on legs and waist." 💜 Heidi

How much money would you say you spent on your newborn diaper stash? If you wouldn’t have gotten any for free, how much do I need to build it a newborn stash like yours

Hi! If I was putting together a similar newborn stash but trying to keep the cost down, I would choose something like: 3 Babegreens classic NB wool covers. I would also have some size small or medium wool covers on hand. If the diaper underneath fits well, it's ok to use big covers even if there is a leg gap. Then 24 Cloth-eez muslin newborn flats. These fit for a bit longer than the newborn prefolds. Some people also use one size birdseye flats from birth, but I didn't try those. Then 12 newborn prefolds, knowing those might be outgrown around 6 weeks old. So $110 for the newborn wool, $66 for the two dozen newborn flats, and $33 for the dozen newborn prefolds. That's $209 total for brand new. There is also the option of purchasing used, or selling the wool covers after use. Also, my babies are around 6 lbs at birth, so I like newborn size covers. Whereas 8-10 lbs babies might be able to start with the Babeegreens classic cover in size small. 💜 Heidi

@@EdnaBlossoms310 They should be prepped by washing on hot with a little detergent, but not too much! By the end of the wash cycle there shouldn't be any more suds.

Nothing wrong with that! A solid flat surface is a good place to develop motor skills.
