I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport(RVR). On day 1 it was rattling and the uninspiring performance was noticeable. However, 150,000 miles later, I have never been stranded on the side of the road and dumped almost no money into it. Unlike my wife's Mercedes and BMW.

Wife and I have been buying and driving Foresters and Outbacks since 2004 model. Very reliable and very crash safe. Example: My 2017 Outback Limited 4 cylinder has zero repairs in 86,000 miles. Similar for Forester, one small repair in 77,000 miles. We will replace them with new Subarus.

My 2018 Subaru Forester with the 6-speet manual transmission has been an excellent car. It does burn some oil but not a lot. This was the last year that the 6-speed transmission was available in the Forester. It has been serviced at regular intervals and at 120,000 km handles and runs like new. No issues and it does not have the dreaded stop/start feature. It has been a very reliable car and I am just one of the many satisfied owners.

For Lent I'm trying to avoid commenting on KZbin, but I feel it's a greater sin to feed people misinformation. People want to lump Honda in with Toyota in reliability without doing research. Honda USED to be great. I'd avoid newer Hondas as well as the brands mentioned here. They have been having oil dilution issues in their engines and haven't been able to solve it. Also, Subaru has gotten a lot better in recent years as Toyota has stock in them and it shows. They have gotten a lot more reliable in recent years. I agree on the styling though. Outside of the BRZ, Subaru doesn't have cool looking vehicles.

Consumer reports almost never consider longevity, mostly problems they analyze are for the first few years of ownership. Ecoboost is a name, not a family of engines. Most of them are different from each other. While there’s been all sorts of issues with the 1.0 and 1.5 4 bangers, the 2.3, 2.7 and 3.6 will last for hundreds of thousands of miles. Search for F150 Ecoboost with 1.4 million miles on KZbin , it ran 700k miles with the first engine and the 2nd is running strong. It’s a 2.7 ecoboost. The new 1.5 3 cylinder is also good for 200k miles or more.

Interesting. Consumer Reports rates the Mitsubishi Outlander as tops in its reliability scores among compact crossovers. Higher than the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV. They also give it a "Recommended" buy. Also, please explain why you would use a Mirage that has been in an accident to slam the brand? Also, the Lancer has been discontinued since 2017 so why are you bringing it up? I had a 2010 Lancer Sportback with the 2.4 and CVT. Most reliable car I've ever owned. In 10 years of driving I never once had any sort of of repair - warranty or out of warranty. Nothing but regular maintenance. My mother also had one that year and it was the same story - totally reliable. My sister and her son now own them and after 13 years on the road they STILL haven't needed any repairs. My current car is a 2021 Subaru Legacy Touring XT. Fantastic car and a stellar dealer experience. Basically dude, I think you're just pulling baseless subjective bias out of your rear.

I have a 2012 Nissan murano and have had absolutely no problems. It has a lot better acceleration than my 2021 Honda Pilot. My daughter’s 2016 crv has had numerous problems with an oil lead and rear hubs. Another family member has had at least 3 Nissan Altimas that have been driven over 200,000 miles with no problems. Yes I understand about the transmissions, but have seen no problems with them..I think the problems with the transmissions were before 2012 or earlier.

before Renault bought nissan in 1999, altimas and sentras were rock solid. then the french, who dont know how to make cars, started cutting corners and cutting costs at the expense of quality. I wouldn't buy a nissan if it were the last car on earth. they are junk. Ever since Subaru's gained the reputation of blown head gaskets, I wouldnt touch them with a ten foot pole either. toyota honda and mazda the only way to go.

Mitsibushis has always costed less than Toyotas and as a result they're made cheaper and corners are cut. Plus, cars aren't Mitsubishi's main focus, so they aren't made as well. This is why it's common for Mitsubishis to start burning oil or have engine or transmission failures around 100k miles. Their piston rings are just made too cheaply. My cousin's 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander CVT failed at 145000 miles, in addition, his engine started burning oil at around 110000. He traded in for a 2016 CX-5 and it's now at 260000 miles and is still 100% trouble free all original.

2019 Subaru Ascent sold at 63k miles. Never any problems although, admittedly, I did not like the CVT transmission. You have to learn how to work with it. The fit and finish was outstanding on the Ascent. I've owned 23 cars/trucks in my life. No complaints otherwise.

Kind of a clickbait video, Nissan and Subaru are average to above average reliability (depending on model) according to Consumer Reports. Mitsubishi isn't even ranked by CR because they sell so poorly, due to poor reputation for build quality, so understandable that they're on here. Any mention of junk brands that doesn't mention Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler or VW is clearly not fully considered.

Ford, GM, and Chrysler (Stellantis) should be at the top of every would-be car owner's list of brands to AVOID! Their quality and records of reliability have always been abysmal (not to mention recalls galore). Stick with an older Honda or Toyota (that was manufactured in Japan) and you'll be OK. Avoid anything built in Mexico (i.e. Toyota Tacoma) because the quality and build quality are junk.
