Do yourself a favor and go in a 24 brand new model and see how much cheap plastic is inside the interior, then go in a 14 model. Then check the engine bay for “high quality plastic.” Then critically assess if you are a Lexus for Life with quality control owner, or one who will buy the latest fad with cost saving. Can you operate the AC solely with physical buttons, or did Lexus cheap out? I bought a 23 GX, because 24 GX is no longer luxury. Lexus is now, veneered Luxury. The great news is that their older models will be available on used market, for very long time, great quality.
@bballah99698 ай бұрын
@@gwilli1754 Lol ok so maybe the plastic is not up to par but who cares man really? The bottom line is Lexus is Toyota and you can't go wrong. The reality is the manufacturers will continue to cut costs where they can and that's a given. I rather have plastic breaking inside then plastic parts under my hood melting away like the German cars are notorious for. I honestly think the German car manufacturers do this purposely so they can have you in there service department on a frequent basis like if they didn't hit you over the head with the price of the car they will also hit you over the head in parts and labor take your pick

Really nothing feels like it will crack and peel on high touch surfaces like previous Acura models and other manufacturers. The biggest complaint with everyone is the touch pad. It's awesome while using Acura interface, but lags in Carplay and AA. If it didn't, I think it's better than touchscreen. While it has never left me stranded, I'm disappointed the driver's seat leather wore prematurely (noticeable after just 4 years - Lexus said not a warranty item), the ABS had to be replaced 8 years ago ($3,200), the a/c compressor failed last year ($2,600) and the painted moldings on the roof began peeling after 10 years. Car is meticulously maintained inside and out. Not sure if these 'complaints' are warranted or if I expect too much after only 110K miles. Will buy either a Genesis G80 couple or Acura RDX in 2025. I am amazed at the amount of interest you guys place in the purchase of a car,. Who CARES about their lights geegaws on the outside. A car is transport from point "A" to point "B". You concern yourself with its mechanical condition, & how reliable that vehicle is in the long run. My personal opinion is that any of the late model vehicles are costly to purchase & to repair. My pick up is a 27 year old Dodge Ram 4X4 3/4 ton diesel, & my daily drive is a 21 year old Buick Park Ave. with the series two 3800 engine. I am 84, do my own repairs & I have no intention of driving anything newer. You know & I know that late model cars are meant to be junked , not rebuilt. Parts are often inoperable out of the box. When I bought my Dodge diesel new in 97, it was $45,000 CDN. I thought that I was in my dotage when I bought it, but it has proven to be the most trouble free truck that I have ever owned & it has well over one million miles on it. Both my vehicles will likely do me for as long as I am likely to be driving, thank God. I love your "channel".

The 2.0l turbos in the acuras should last that long with proper maintenance. That is a very durable engine.

Mark seems to sucker for chrome trim and flash as that is focus on all the vehicles. For reliability focus on the proven drivetrain from Lexus V6, V8 with torque converter transmission

Yeah I went with a 2017 Acura TLX because the Lexus IS its direct competitor was too small. When it comes to driving dynamics the IS 350 is one of those rare Lexus that I'd probably get over an Acura if it wasn't for the size. Most Lexus are too soft. Acuras tend to be more sporty
@edwardkrochmal82688 ай бұрын
People hate a manual transmission thats cheaper to own. It also requires less maintenance. I bought a Mustang GT 1986 . I couldn't frive it. I ask him to turn yhe vehicle around. Then praying no stop signs and and luckily to drive it home. It was a fun car,and bought manuals ever since. It just becomes natural to shift, and about 3k less money.

Manuals are seriously the best but it’s unfortunate that OEMs have almost eliminate them

Doesn't the Infinity QX80 have a 9 SPD automatic transmission? (Torque converter). I'm so glad you owned up that the Acuras and 6 cyl Hondas use a timing belt. That is a crime when coupled with an interference engine.

I looked at all the luxury SUVs mentioned. I almost bought the Lexus RX350 F Type AWD but wasn't happy with how simple the interior was, and it was underpowered and small as well. It was boring, in my opinion. The GX460 was too clunky and had a truck like ride. The new GX550 wasn't really available yet, and more LandRover like. We ended up going with the Acura MDX Type S which was very well appointed with tons of technology and luxury. It also had a great third row seat setup. It's been almost a month and I'm extremely happy with my decision. There is about a $20k difference between the base trim which is nice and the Type S which comes with a lot of extras.

Sounds like a great choice. The MDX is a lovely vehicle indeed

I'll say Lexus is the best of the three Japanese Luxury brands Acura is 2nd and Infinity especially in recent years had been the most troublesome as its parent Nissan is similar for regular cars. my moms cousin bill does servicing and inspections for cars and just did a low mileage 2019 Lexus around 50,000 on the odometer which is your basic 4 year warranty granted Luxury cars tend to weigh more then non luxury cars for example a mini cooper weighs 2,841 with an automatic transmission while a Cadillac CT5 V blackwing weighs 4,142 pounds with an Automatic transmission

I wanna know why would they move away from The V8 and V6 engines,those engines alone outlasted just about everything that went against them. These turbos are complicated and requires someone that knows they stuff mainly the dealership or the workers that work with in the factory. I Miss the old days where V6’s and V8’s dominated

I think Toyota/Lexus should go away from turbo, unless they do something monumental with durability, but instead should invest in hybrids to save gas. Nobody does hybrids better than Toyota/Lexus. Maybe all their vehicles should be hybrid. Maybe turbocharged (if dependable) and hybrid combo.

That 3.7 QX50 is RWD and have a stout 7AT. Same transmission as the Q50 you pointed out. The FWD Infiniti/Nissan transmissions are the issues. That RDX has a 3.5 V6 timing belt but the new 2.0 turbo are chain. If you're pointing to that car, you should talk about that car, not the newer models that have a complete different platform. Lexus only has reliability nothing else. Everything feels hollow and plastic for instance the GX $80K and it feels cheap. Acura is just a middle class brand and Lexus is just premium but cheap. The only Japanese I like is the Infiniti QX80 especially with the V8 since it’s reliable. The Nissan armada aka Patrol in the Middle East is everywhere. In Dubai this was amazing it was actually smooth and for me it’s was quiet just like the Lexus LX600 and LX570 and I actually sat in those.

Lexus and Acura are awesome cars, if you can afford them. I'm not as fond of Acura exterior designs. In our household we buy Lexus for our long haul family haulers and Honda or Toyota for Daily Drivers. In our extended family fleet: 2 Lexi, 2 Toyota, 2 Honda, 1 VW.

Nissan products, with exception of the older Armadas and the new Frontier, not a brand I would buy again. As a Toyota family of late, the turbo fours seem like beta tests for the owners, although if Toyota sticks to their ethics, they will address issues as they develop and cover customers. Something Nissan will not do.

Sold parts to NIssan, now retired. I do like a few Nissan vehicles, but they have horrible CVT transmissions. Have to say that Toyota/Lexus is the best, hands down. However, HOnda/Acura are also good products. Owned both and will stay Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus. Worked in product management for NGK-Niterra and Denso. I would not touch a NIssan, Kia or Hyundai. I think Mazda is a good product as well. Toyota has issues with their Turbos. Turbos are limiters to long-term reliability. TOyota trucks now cost too much. Would not even consider Stellantis, GM Or Ford. GReat review!
