I experienced this at the last psy festival I went to, it was truly an amazing experience and changed my perception on dance and movement, my body was in sync to the music no effort was needed to dance my body felt free, I felt connected to everyone and everything around me a complete feeling of euphoria, I remember I didn’t want to leave the dance floor because I never wanted this experience to end, Many hours later I walked away from the floor with and abundance of energy and love inside of me, I will cherish that experience for the rest of my life

Isnt this what we did as children....until we were told to settle down...and then taught how to dance....we should have been free to twirl....it didnt need a cool name...we just twirled and swirved and our arms and legs went everywhere....we knew how to do without instruction.

In Latin culture dancing is just a way of life. They have city squares with people dancing. Here where I am in north america people are only dancing when they are drunk or looking to get laid. Latin culture they dance simply because they love to dance, if you dance with someone it doesn't mean you want to do anything sexual it is just to have a human connection and dance together. Finally I see exstatic dance here in the city I am in. I am going to do it as I love dancing. No speaking allowed just dancing, and if you want to converse you must step out at a breather area.

No talking on the dance floor. You heard me. No "substance" use, children are clearly present when all this sexuality is being encouraged and on display. Ecstatic Dance will never see a penny from me, I'm able to smell shit a long way off.

This reminds me of Dr Richard Moss MD. He had a spiritual awakening and he wrote a book back in the early '80's called Awakening to Higher Energies. I went to a workshop he gave back in 1983 in Western Mass.. Although he didn't focus on ecstatic dancing as intensely it was a part of the experience. The key is to let go in trusting your energy in intimate contact with another person or in a group, and maybe a synergy is a good description of what happens. Maybe that is what a marriage is supposed to be. LOL

Yes, it really is a beautiful film. AND very nice to put Oshos words there in the beginning. But Osho used dance to go into Meditation and what I missed in this film, even though it was indicated, were the movements from dance/together into silence /alone.It only becomes a form of Meditation when it can end in deep inner stillness. Extasy and Silence are the two keys in my mind that make Exttatic dance so powerful.LOve Pujan

Thanks for the feedback, the end part when the hand let go the last sandcore can be a metaphor for stillness, let go the conceps and idea of what would be and just be what is .. meditation for me as a dancer can be observed from the outside as a movement from the inside is a different story, i can be absolutely still in the core of my center and there is only me the witness, seeing body,.emotions and energy moving while me the awareness is absolutely still and connected

Beautiful video. Sounds great in theory but is anyone else still thinking they can’t do it? The only moves I have are awkward glances and frozen muscles. Keen, the first time I did ecstatic dance I was feeling awkward and frozen as you said, but after many times I started to feel more free and less judged, it takes a while and you can get there ;)

I used to feel like this, now I dance like a madman and can feel fully connected to my body. Practice can certainly help you get there - check out 5Rhythms classes. If you haven't embarked on this journey yet, please do yourself a favor and just go for it. You won't regret it. Psychedelic therapy can also rapidly help you learn how to connect with your body.

Great video. ED is done in different ways in different communities, but this spiritual/meditative/transcendent experience is what I like best. I studied with Gabrielle Roth many many years ago when she first started popularizing the term with her work and in her book Sweat Your Prayers. I understand this docu didn't talk about any of that, but it's worth noting that people don't just show up knowing how to do this kind of ED. Without any focus and training toward this specific intention and how to access it, what I've seen is ED communities evolve to simply become barefoot community dance that's kid friendly. That's a thing too, a valuable thing. But a different thing IMHO.

There is something missing,during a meditation 🧘‍♀️ i was shown,first raising the bodies vibration, this can be done by chanting while setting yogi style, touch chin to chest and make a AUMMMM sound,do this for 5 mins,while i did this,it showed me a type of dance,that would activate your light body.This is where dance comes from
