The main reason for disconections is major voltage drop when pcm tuner conects to the ecu. If you pay atention ,when using pcmtuner , voltage is droping from 12.67 to 11.3, which is alot.... Sm2pro is not having this issue. Sm2pro drops only like 0.3v, reason why it makes it much more stable, then pcm tuner. I personally bought a cheap sm2pro and reworked it. Replaced about 85% of integrated circuits. Manage to reduse voltage drops to 0.05v when id and writing, super stable ! Pcmtuner it doesnt worth its money.

I think best is to get pcmtuner dongle if you have original scanmatik 2 pro like or good/high quality clone scanmatik, at least then you know if there's any problems it is likely with the software itself and not the hardware, of course hardware can malfunction but not due to the quality of the used components in the SCANMATIK circuit

Hello, unfortunately, I haven't tested it on Japanese cars. I don't work on these type of cars very much and when I do I use Flex which is the best for Asian cars. When I used Flex via OBD, other programmers did not have these cars in the menu.

Kess and ktag Clone are very good for older ECUs like EDC16. SM2 is much better for EDC17 but does not work via OBD. If you want to buy a clone that does the job of those mentioned, go for KT200, Foxflash or Tagflash

Hello, KT200 is not something special, it does not have any extra functions compared to SM2pro for new ECU models starting with edc17. The only advantage is that it can read edc16 in Bench mode and you don't have to open them. KT 200 is equal in performance to Ktag clone + SM2 pro Clone. These cost 200 euros together and the KT 200 costs 600 euros. So a difference of 400 euros that is not justified. If the price of this programmer was 350 euros, I would recommend it, but I don't recommend it because it is expensive and works online, even if they made an offline dongle, you have to connect to their server for the first installation, so if these Chinese sellers decide to give up this programmer and shut down the server you can throw it away.

The one with that comes with 32in1 modules. But It didn't work with as it was advertised. I remember the last time I tried was on diesel golf mk6 with edc17xx but it failed to read the ECU. Maybe because of the tprot or something else. As many says I think my tool just need rework and upgrade the dongle to 64in1. But I am lost I don't know what to invest in. And I am actually short in money. My best purchase was the ktag and kess clone. They did a lot of job for me but for newer cars I don't want to take the risk without a backup tool.

Hi I come again to this post. I bought sm2pro it looks exactly like yours. The problem is it didn't work also 😢. I had skoda last month with 2.0 tdi engine like the one golf mk7 ecu is EDC17C64 04L 907 309 C. It failed to read it both in module 53 and 71. Today I had q5 2011 2.0 TDI. ECU is EDC17C46 03L 906 018 MQ. it failed again to read it 😢. So I took the ecu to another guy who have foxflash and it was able to read without problems. Can you please share a video showing the motherboard of your SM2PRO please? I want to compare it to mine.

Get the vcx nano it will do the job for you. Probably be better going with the “se” I only have the gm version and I am able to do j2534 flash with ford and gm. I can even hook it to FORScan as long as the ford is late enough model to be can bus. Can’t say enough good about them. Only thing I don’t like is it shows up as a virus and defender will turn it off or delete the program in the worst times sometimes right in the middle of a flash

Let me explain: - pcm tunner is a clone of Scanmatik pro(SM2PRO). - That programmer I use is called SM2pro Clone, which means that it is also a clone of Scanmatik. So neither one nor the other is original !! The comparison was made between two clones of the original Scanmatik product. There are 2 clones on the market. I hope I was clear enough in my explanation. Google it and you'll see what the original Scanmatik looks like !

Hello, I think you've misunderstood a bit how these programmers work. If you have a little patience and watch only 3 videos from what I have you will figure out what one does and what another does. The Tuning programmer is only Tuning and the other one is for other type of eeprom and flash.
