STORYLINE:
Ecuadorian folk dancing groups paid tribute to their masters on Wednesday during an International Day Dance celebration.
The Middle of the World Dancers collective celebrated Ecuadorian dance masters Paco Salvador and Carlos Quinde, who died in May 2022.
They were awarded for maintaining and promoting Ecuadorian dance recognition nationally and internationally, inspiring a generation of new dancers.
Maestro Paco Salvador is the director and choreographer of the dance group Muyacán.
He has stood out for his broad spectrum and knowledge of body movement reflected in genuine Indigenous dance works.
Salvador thanked the collective for the recognition, expanding it to all the past and present members of his group Muyacán, marking 53 years of activity.
Master Carlos Quinde, director, dancer and choreographer of the Ballet Folklorico Tungurahua, was also posthumously honoured.
The event occurred at the National Theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture in central Quito.
