I have a Gen1 and was happy to see ECX fixed most of the problems the Gen1 had, like moving the shock towers to the outside of the chassis which made it more stable plus allows for a full size steering servo. Replaced the 3-link in the rear with a 4-link. And replaced the 1.9 wheels and 110mm tires that looked out of scale with 1.5's, though I just replaced the stock 1.9 tires with smaller diameter 96mm tires with some nice mud tread and they look good. I've actually been quite happy with the stock 370 motor, it seems to have ample torque for trails and crawling and I don't really care about speed. The biggest performance mod I did was add 5/8ths of an ounce weight on each wheel, that made a big difference with how easily it rolled over. I painted the outside of the body because I like to get scratches in the paint from use. I cut a couple small rectangles from one of those things that hold a bread bag closed, painted them silver and glued them on for door handles. Made a CB antenna for the back bumper from an old guitar E string. And cut the driver side window out because who goes 4-wheelin' with their windows rolled up? And made a simple interior box from a dollar store sandwich box and added a driver.. Eventually I plan to cut the bed off and build a wooden flat bed for it. I wanted to pick up a Gen2 but I've never actually found any place that has one for sale. Horizon just has a thing to enter your zip code to find a store within 350 miles, and told me there was none. And I never could find one online anywhere.

Well done rc girl . The smoke is one of the hardest colours to paint, it runs very easy. you can also use the clear film as a mask and paint the bed n the outside for a semi gloss effect.
@RCGirl6 жыл бұрын
I ended up using raptor lining (actual truck bed lining) and spraying that on the tiny truck bed. I didn't video it but you can see a photo at 12:30

@RCGirl5 жыл бұрын
Why do people not like axle mounted servos?
@ssrc305 жыл бұрын
@@RCGirl I think for most of us it's a scale thing more than anything. Performance wise, I don't really notice a difference between axle or frame mounted. Have you tried the RCR GEN8 yet? They're spot on with their servo placement. That's one nice crawler.

Another great video, thanks RCGirl! If You have scale crawler tyres that are a bit to hard, try «Grip tyre softener»; griptyresoftener.com. It’s made for carting and full scale racing but works great for RC too. Just remember NOT to use it in competitions, that would be cheating ;-) I have used it on both crawlers and touring cars and it works great after some testing.

Heard back from them - "There isn’t a kit you can buy to convert it but you could buy all the parts individually, but by the time you are done buying them individually you might as well just buy a GEN2! Especially the Doomsday… its 149.99 right now!"
