I went to Le Rivage for the first time two days ago because of this podcast! I brought my father with me who is a French cuisine fanatic, and I have to tell you we had the most amazing meal we’ve had in such a long time!!! We were two guys ordering food for the equivalent of five people it was that damn good! Shout out to Frenchy, who was actually in the restaurant at the time we were eating and stopped by to chat with us. My dad has still not stopped thanking me for introducing him to the restaurant. We are so looking forward to many returns! Next stop Mission Sandwich!!!

As previously mentioned, I'm big on Food Network, and it's surreal to see my worlds (KZbin & tv) collide; if I see Chef Ed on Bobby's Triple Threat, I'll lose my shit! My favourite show as of late.

21:48 oh my GOD! I have so many stories like these. We had been in our space for like 17 years-roasting small batch coffee. Some one moved in and had lived there less than we had been there. Started complaining about the coffee smell. Or the guy who decided to drive on the SIDEWALK because a customer parked in his spot-or his crazy mother that would spew out racist crap. Or the lady in a white power suit that tripped over a grease trap hose when the neighboring restaurant was getting pumped out. Or the homeless man who kept taking bricks from the sidewalk right in front of the door to talk in it like a cellphone-to the point I kept a stash of bricks to put it in because I was afraid someone would fall in front of the cafe and sue the crap out of us. God I miss those days. My shop closed down in the pandemic. But listening to you guys is like listening to all my old friends.

I like Ed! I could be wrong, but I think he thinks a lot like me because how he speaks is slow and deliberate. And the only way I can describe this thinking is by whenever someone asks him a question to provoke a story, it's almost like he sees the whole memory. Because of this, he's trying to sift through what are all the important details before moving on. But once he moves on he knows there were more details that could've supported the next part of the story and he's trying to figure out how to incorporate them into the next part of the story all while the words are coming out of his mouth. Simultaneously, he could be contemplating if this story is dragging, have I lost their attention, what was the next detail, etc If this is true, I find a healthy amount of alcohol calms this line of thinking down and gives a better, fluid story But definitely bring him back and maybe give him a few drinks along the way

I live near the Portland area. Can confirm the restaurant that got shut down for smell complaints was in OR. It looks like that caused enough outrage though that we may be removing that as a viable complaint (which comes with its own issues). Let's be honest that smell complaints are sometimes viable, though renting an apartment next to or above an established restaurant and complaining about non-spoiled food or smoke smells is not. Portland being both neurotic and psychotic at the same time is nothing new though.

Most of the time decriminalization simply means that you can't go to prison for it. But you can still be arrested for using it in public. And there's usually a he fty fine. That's how they did it in portugal. They did away with prison sentences for drug possession. And they legalize certain drugs like marijuana. But you're still not allowed to possess certain drugs like heroin or meth or things like that. I think they have a one thousand dollar fine for possession of heroin, And I think they even added a criminal enhancement.If you are on drugs when you commit another crime.

Decriminalizing drugs isn't meant to stop people from using drugs. It's because addiction is a medical issue, and putting people in jail for a medical issue isn't effective.
@derpman9098 ай бұрын
Theory vs reality. Check in on the cities a couple years later that make strives in decriminalizing drugs, because they all realize what they theorize isnt what actually played out. Most notably, Portland just decriminalized various drugs once again. Theres only so many times you can step on a used needle.
@ethan-db9wc8 ай бұрын
As a former addict I can say decriminalization of drugs is not a solution at all. I agree there needs to be more medical help for people who have drug addictions but if we're being honest ain't no drug addict wants to go through rehab or most recovery programs. Cops aren't arresting people for weed if we're being honest, there's so many times cops have caught me at 2am in a parking lot smoking a Bong and not given a dam. Cops have problems with hard drugs and that's because they can seriously mess you up especially if your an angry or sad person and you never know how someone is gonna react first time trying something. Drugs really bring out the worst in you

@@ethan-db9wc *"Cops aren't arresting people for we...cops have caught me at..."* Cute anecdote, also lying about cops not arresting people for pot. You don't speak for all addicts, throwing someone in a dungeon and taking away their freedoms, isn't the answer.

decriminalizing doesn't work if they don't set up treatment programs, considering how fantastically they're doing with their programs to feed the poor... you expect decent treatment programs for addicts? rossmann went to texas cause new york is such a brown pile, why are you still there?
