@Neville600017 жыл бұрын
How the frak is CBS Studios driving _Star Trek_ into the ground with _Discovery_? _Star Trek_ is supposed to be about social issues, not just about action adventure. It seems to me that people like you are retrogressives who don't like the fact that two women of color are in command of a Starfleet vessel, or that the design isn't like that of the 1960's show. Look, The Orville is great, but it has to have legs beyond this first episode alone.

@silvussol89667 жыл бұрын
Neville6000 - Are you serious? We had Sisko and Janeway. Gender and color don't mean shit to most Trekkies. So how about you stop instantly accusing anyone who dislikes STD (and there are plenty of reasons to dislike it) of being "retrogressives" and making them the enemy before they even have a chance to speak. Seriously, fuck you and your self-victimizing bullshit attacks. People like you are just as bad as the right-wing extremists you condemn. Two sides of the same pain-in-the-ass coin and both equally unbearable.
@Neville600017 жыл бұрын
+Silvus Sol, I don't give a shit about how 'liberal' you or others like you are-most of you have been looking for any excuse to blast this series for one stupid reason or another (being on a streaming service, having two women of color as the lead, set, costumes, and props not looking like the 1965 original [despite the new show being filmed in 2017 for high definition], complete and utter caca about 'white genocide' and 'political correctness being shoved down your throats [you all forget that Star Trek's a liberal franchise from the beginning]) and I, as a fan of the franchise and also a man of color, am tired of it. The attempts to deflect said criticism are bullshit-most of you need to admit that you don't like the new show for the reasons I've stated. So spare me your white pity tears. Also, if you don't like it, why are you and the rest of the Trekfans still talking about it and using _The Orville_ to bash it? Nobody gives a shit about your hatred of Discovery, and if anything, you all better be concerned about the ratings of _The Orville_, as it's on a commercial network that's known for placing sci-fi/fantasy shows in bad time slots, then giving said sci-fi shows the ax very quickly (Terra Nova being one of the shows despite being fronted and backed by Steven Spielberg.) So give the bashing of Discovery a rest, PLEASE.
@silvussol89667 жыл бұрын
One of the primary themes of Star Trek as Roddenberry envisioned it, is the idea that humanity had moved beyond the need for money and the evils associated with it. Now CBS, out of greed, has locked the latest incarnation of his legacy behind a paywall. It's tragic irony. The fact that you think that kind of bullshit is perfectly fine and are willing to dismiss arguments to the contrary makes me sad, especially since you consider yourself a fan of the franchise. I don't have an issue with the aesthetic not looking 100% like TOS, I have an issue with the fact that they didn't even try. JJ-Trek managed to modernize the TOS aesthetic just fine, indie films like Prelude to Axanar have done it. So why can't STD? I'll tell you why, because they don't give a shit, they don't care about 50 years of established Trek. STD just wants to do whatever it wants to do and anything prior can go fuck itself. Those Egyptian Lizard-Men aren't Klingons, I don't know what they are but they definitely aren't Klingons. Which makes me wonder why they didn't just make up their own race? They could have very easily done that and had no negative feedback since they weren't bastardizing one of the most famous races in Star Trek. Or, if they absolutely had to use some known race, why not the Romulans? Nobody knows what they heck they were up to during this time-period and they could have probably gotten away with screwing with the Romulan look. The reason I bring up these very legitimate criticisms, is because I DO care about Star Trek. I have loved everything Trek from TOS to ENT to JJ-Trek, and what STD is doing is not right. They are shitting all over established Trek lore for no good reason and with absolutely no respect. I take that back, there is a reason, to sell CBS:AA subscriptions. That's why they used the names Spock, Sarek, and Klingon. Because they are popular and CBS thinks they will sell more subs. Nevermind how badly those names are drug through the mud in the process. The rest of what you talked about isn't worth responding to.

This type of genre entertainment is still niche. As much as I love this show...
