What boggles my mind is after murdering both his grandparents at age 15 he was released to live with his mother at age 20. The very same mother who as a child locked him in the basement to sleep at night, among many other abuses. He supposedly received psychiatric treatment while detained but how is it possible it was determined he presented no further threat to society? Almost immediately after release he began purchasing the knives and guns he used to kill again and again, including her.

Because he is an incredibly intelligent psychopath. Even when he was in prison, he was and still is regarded as a model prisoner, and is thought of by most people as a friendly sane guy. But being the disturbingly immaculate manipulator he is, he was able to feint appearing normal to psychiatrists due to his aforementioned intelligence and lack of empathy.

His case is the best sample how the law enforcement sometimes had failed in the worst terrible way and lack of parenting guidelines creates these kind of monsters too, then for this we the society pays the consequences,so sorry for all the victims and feel sorry in any way for this sick sociopath person too.

It’s called FWMS. (fellow yt male syndrome). It’s when men can’t see the danger in other men because they share a commonality or 2. Kemper, bundy, none of these guys would’ve gotten as far as they did with their crimes if 1) people looked at the facts rather than the personality and 2) having a shortage minority officers who are culturally a bit different & could’ve clearly warned people of their danger & abnormality. some parts of the human mind are meant to stay locked away. i could never understand or feel how edmund felt, but that doesn't make his reality any less real to him. he is a reflection of us whether we like that or not. and no he didn't do all of this because he was "bored" he was deeply affected by a ton of different factors and when you add the sexual element in that makes untangling his motives even more complex. it's easy to see why people find his candor so engrossing, because someone with a normal life could simply not comprehend how a mind could end up this tortured

I don't think the mother had enough support either. Not sure HOW the pregnancy was, was he a BIG baby???did his mother have an emergency C Section? Was her husband a demanding person in bed who cheated? Some women go through SO much to have a baby unbelievable. Easy to be judged by others. Spiritual warfare/ black magic/ is behind many cases. Sometimes negative energy is behind a normal person turned aggressive against spouse/ their children, getting bad thoughts, head aches, limiting beliefs, feelings of being a failure, suicidal thoughts. competition against siblings, partner, narcissistic behaviour, cheating addiction etc. Then wait until women get peri- menopause from ages 36- 49yrs old. Symptoms are memory loss, dementia, joint pain, 2 periods per month, insomnia, dizziness, dry skin, hair loss etc.

Ed's mom was awful and he did endure horrible abuse, but it did not cause him to become who he is. Virtually every behavior and attitude is the result of both nature and nurture; the two are utterly intertwined. Genetically speaking, he was dealt an unfortunate hand at birth. And the environment he was raised in either exacerbated his anti-social traits or accelerated their development. It's important to neither victimize or demonize men like him. They are behavioral anomalies that we don't yet-and may never-understand.
@MrSeedi76

Not quite what the experts say. I've read quite a few books by profilers. I think it was John Douglas who wrote, "Abuse doesn't necessarily make one a serial killer but I never saw one that wasn't horribly abused" (quoted from memory).
@JonathanSchmallippe
@JonathanSchmallippe 2 ай бұрын
@@MrSeedi76 It's possible that Douglas may have at one point said that, but I sincerely doubt he'd stand by it today. There have been multiple serial killers, spree killers, and terrorists with no documented history of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Among serial killers, Bundy is probably the most prominent example. He was raised to believe that his biological grandmother was his mother and that his biological mother was his sister (which might qualify as emotional abuse?), but otherwise had a perfectly normal childhood by all accounts. FWIW: the second paragraph of my original comment is a quote from the preface to Robert Sapolsky's "Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst" (also from memory; not verbatim).

It’s odd; he hated his mother because of how abusive she was, and so because he was so broken he killed her. Then, and this is the odd part, he did unspeakable things to her corpse. Like bud if you hate her so much why’d you do that

@mickeybee

'He did something about it'??? You mean, raped and killed young women, then dismembered them and had sex with their body parts? There are plenty of people with overbearing, twatty mothers. There are literally millions of people who endured infinitely worse childhood abuse than this man. They didn't end up f**king the dismembered heads of their completely innocent victims though, did they? Yeah - he is clearly a sociopath, but that doesn't automatically turn you into a sadistic killer. I think you're a bit naive, to say the least......
