When Ed left Skynyrd a part of Skynyrd's soul went with him. He downplays his importance and playing while in the band. But he was my favorite guitarist in Skynyrd. His fills and leads were good. His arrangements were important as well. RIP Big Ed King.

Ed was certainly great and influential, but skynyrd lost nothing when he left they steve gained Allen and Gary. 3 guitar attack in reality when I see all the older live stuff. Allen is the one that kicks me in the testicles. Steve Gaines had a great voice and I loved his leads too. Gary is like what a great friend and teaching buddy told me when I pointed out the unsung nature of bass players and drummers. If you ever notice a great band you will notice they always always have a great rhythm section. That is Gary for me tried true and steady eddie. I loved Ed's songs his playing and most likely his personality unassuming equal to all and nonetheless, especially I don't give no shit so don't expect me to take any. What a great band! I kind of wish we all could eat our egos more timely and more often. Once again and none the least always always Leon and artimus. Love that piano billy and all the honkettes. Mr Johnny people all over are singing your brothers songs. Why not you!!! Wonderful band up the the end if it does end. Things change and birds must be free. Without freedom there is no love. May all the past brothers and sisters enjoy one another's company in the heaven above as they all deserve credit for their own gifts talents and sacrifices for the music they made. May we all know the unworthiness of the forgiveness we have been granted. In any good there is bad and even ugly too. I am just speaking for myself. God bless

It is sad the great musicians of the 60' and 70's are one by one leaving us, there will never be anyone like them. I am grateful to have been a teenager back then to had the pleasure of seeing these rock and roll icons in concert. RIP Ed, you are missed already.

There's a lot of people who can copy all the licks and chops and lyrics LS had, but to come up with it was the genius of them. We will never see the talent of the bands of the 60's-70's. I seem to keep missing more and more of my old idols who have passed on. I have always hated time it passes so quick and takes the ones we love away from us but as time marches on our technology gets better and better the amazing things we humans are learning especially about our universe we have learned more in the last 20 years then we have in the past 200 years! Ed king I'm so sorry i missed you! RIP now you can join your free bird brothers in heaven! You were not given the credit you were due! Also ronnie breaking your heart telling you that you dont amount to a pimple on his ass and making you mad enough to leave the band on tour actually saved your life! Steve who replaced you had the same exact birthday month, day and year isnt that really odd??? I looked up both of you something most people dont know.I wish i could have met you! maybe in heaven RIP forever ed!

I don't think there's anything dark sounding about a RW board. If fact, if anything, I know it's a harder wood and I think it often yields a bright guitar - with all else being equal. The only way I know that is based on swapping a RW board neck onto a guitar that had been maple. In the end, I don't think there's too much difference regardless.
