@@Fatpig-fq3vb Well lower CO2 emissions overall. That's true for nearly all countries except for a few exceptions like Poland. Especially as more low carbon energy joins the grid. While mining is always an issue, battery recycling is occurring where at least 95% of materials can be recovered. LFP batteries are becoming more common in EVs, as they can be charged to 100% without risk of battery degradation, are cheaper to build as they don't contain nickel or cobalt and are more durable to heat and high voltage. Sodium battery tech is also just starting to become available.
@KevinRudd-w8sСағат бұрын
@@Richard482You have a good point, but the problem is these days Britain is no longer a serious manufacturing country, if a company supplying components for fossil fuel powered vehicles or anything else for that matter, loses it's orders, it may well change over to making something else, but will probably do so in another country, it just wouldn't be worth re-tooling their UK facilities. I've seen it happen, there are exceptions of course, I do know of companies who have made very large investments over the last ten years, but most companies just buy in from abroad or relocate when the production facilities become redundant or obsolete. I spent fifty years in manufacturing and transport, I've witnessed the decline first hand. Britain has become a niche manufacturing country. The problem is we have an increasing population, due mostly to immigration, and fewer decent jobs concentrated in fewer sectors. To be fair I've always been a pessimist, but I can't see anything ahead but total disaster for this country. I could be wrong and hope I am, but I can't see where all these wonderful well paid jobs are coming from as most modern technologies require less human participation anyway. This is not a new problem, people have been warning various governments for years they needed to come up with a long term strategy for how to deal with the consequences of advanced technology but true to form they just kicked the can further down the road.
