facts, feels like im in the twilight zone, everyone is so afraid to say that he looks to be very good, solely because of bias that he didnt play D1 or get drafted and theyre scared to look bad if theyre wrong. Instead just using your eyes and being honest with what youre seeing. Props to OB for being real. I ask all the doubters to name literally one thing that Bagent doesn't do very well besides maybe throw a great deep ball and still havent heard one thing.

Calling it now we’re gonna trade Fields and we might have the the 1st pick and because Bagent looks competent Bears fans are gonna be screaming to not take a QB. We let generational QB talent go elsewhere. Justin goes to Atlanta and next year Bagent looks like a poor man's Jimmy G. I am a huge Bagent fan, and I drafted him in the 5th round and was shocked the Bears took the risk of letting get drafted. I know they had a free Agent worked out during the draft with him but that was a big gamble. Now we need to see how well he throws the ball downfield in the NFL. To say Fields can't read defenses or get through his progressions is a lie. I have watched all of the Bears games all-22'. Bagent does get rid of the ball very quickly, which plays into Getsky's offense. Getsky doesn't run a Shanahan system, which is more suited to Field's style of play. So it's not surprising that Hampton is right when he said Getsky has now called one good game plan. Think about that, Getsky has refused to run an offense designed to take advantage of his QB's strengths so it took a QB built around Getsky's offense. It is possible that Bagent is system proof but we don't know that yet. We don't know his arm strength yet save the very weakly thrown INT vs the Vikings and that doesn't tell us much because Bagent moved himself into a position where he had a rusher to close for him to step into his pass.He had a good pocket but drifted left into pressure on that INT.

Let's be real here. I like his quick decision-making and quick release. However, the ground game did most of the work. Also, we won't be playing every team down to their 2nd and 3rd string qb's. Let's not think that we're heading for the playoffs or superbowl with this. I am happy we won, but I am trying to keep it realistic. I'll be more confident if he can win this week against a better team. I think we may be hampered by his lack of a deep ball as well, now that teams have tape on him. This last game was more about how good our RB room is, and having D'onta Foreman as your 3rd or 4th rb to come in and own the other teams D like he did was just awesome. I like Bagent a lot, but I want to temper the expectation. Before you write me a reply on how bad Fields sucks. I will say it here now. I don't care about Fields one bit. If Bagent can replace him, then great. If we trade Fields today or tomorrow, then great. My whole response is that Bagent didn't do enough in this game to convince me that we could win on a regular basis with him since he didn't throw much. Now, as I said already if he can go out and prove it to me in the next few games, then I will be more than happy to say he is the guy. MY RESPONSE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FIELDS! So think before you reply with some Fields complaint will ya.

Let's be real here. Fields would have lost. Frields fields would have been sacked seven times because he holds onto the ball way too long. Probably would have fumbled too. Fields has proven he doesn't have it. Bagent played a very good game with zero mistakes. Fields still makes mistakes, can't see open receivers. Bagent saw the field and hit open receivers. Fields still struggles. After 2 1/2 years we've seen enough of Fields!

What we really saw was the fact that we need a better QB than Fields. We put in a Div2 walk on who showed us that our O-line is not as bad as everyone claimed and used as a scapegoat for a QB who held the ball for over 41 seconds.
@mobodogg
@mobodogg Жыл бұрын
@wackedoutonweed Your mistake is here is that I'm supporting Fields in any way. I could care less if he is replaced. My point is let's not anoint him the savior of the Bears without him doing more than what he did and without him playing against better teams. Especially when we were playing the Raiders without their starting QB and a D that obviously couldn't stop the run. When we play better teams and we don't run 3 out of 4 plays because we can't, and he throws to win us a game. Then I will be the first one to say this kid is it.
@mobodogg
@mobodogg Жыл бұрын
@wackedoutonweed Also, let's not use Fields as a scapegoat. Has he been really bad? Yes, absolutely, but so has th O-line, the Defense, and especially the coaching and play calling. The missed assignments are on the players, but all the constant missed tackles and penalties, etc... are on the coaching. It has to be better, first and foremost. Again, I don't make any excuse for Fields, but he isn't a coach, defensive player, or on the Oline. So let's keep it realistic. We need to do a lot more than just replacing Fields.
@mobodogg
@mobodogg Жыл бұрын
@robertwadas Our Oline is bad. It's a lot better now that Tev is back, but we really need a better LT, Center, and maybe a RG or at least a swing guard. If you don't think this, you should watch some of the film and see how many penalties and missed assignments these guys have made. It definitely helps them if our coaches call a game friendly to them, and our qb gets it out quickly, no doubt about that. However, that doesn't mean our O line is good. At best, they're just league lower half average right now.

How quickly all of you crying out for Bagent to be crowned the starter had forgotten the last three games Fields played before he went down to injury. He lost to Denver after playing very well because the defense couldn't hold the lead and poor coaching decisions. Then he had a 4 TD passing game with over 300 yards passing and another 60 rushing vs. Washington before getting injured vs. Minnesota in the first half, and we lost that game after Bagent had a fumble taken in for a TD and a terrible weak pass intercepted inside the Vikings 10-yard line. I am a Baget fan, but let's get real and see how he does when he faces pressure when the O-line doesn't play their best game of the year.

I listened(past tense) to these guys for years scream "YOU HAVE TO THROW THE BALL DOWNFIELD" and it took 162 yards and one of the most pathetic intended air yard performances for them to crown this guy. The reason why they do that is because 90% of them don't watch the games they literally just watch the one game that they want to watch that they're a fan of and all the rest of the games they just kind of watch what's on in the morning or sports center for the highlights do you know what I mean so when they're watching fields and he's doing spectacular runs and shit like they say oh man this guy is going to be good but they don't sit there and watch the game and get the flow of the game understand what's going on they just see the highlights and then they go talk about it the next morning with their little you know fact sheets and stuff and really it's just one guy thinks one way and then the other guy is going to think the other way so they can debate about it rather they truly believe it or not you know what I mean. It's funny I lived in Texas for many years as a Bears fan so I watched the national sports media for any Talk of the Bears cuz I couldn't ever really get it you know it was always cowboy stuff well after moving back to Chicago I spent like the first maybe 10 years avidly watching every pregame show in in postgame show and just religiously watched you know Comcast SportsNet and everything but after about 10 years I realized that all of them are basically just saying the same shit and it's already stuff I thought to myself so they're not saying anything that I haven't already thought of and not only that why do I care rather they think my team is going to be good or not are you still like care about it like man everybody always think the Bears going to suck. And then I think to myself will you think they're going to be sucky too so what's the problem who gives a shit. Not only screw the national media screw the local media to the only reason why the local media is still around anyway is because people get bored without football during the week so we got to occupy our minds with some kind of something sports-related so we can like you know keep our minds good till next game

I knew Fields was a bust after his first or second preseason game. After the game he had played a decent game but it was because he had all day to throw the ball. After the game they asked him about the speed of the game I think it was his first preseason game cuz I remember them asking him about the change in the speed of the game his reply was oh it was actually pretty slow for me to be honest I thought it was going to be a lot faster. When I heard that I was like oh I like the confidence of this kid like I think it's going to be all right then I started watching back the game and watching the all 22 on it and you could sit there and see that he was holding the ball way too long when he didn't need to he wasn't seeing receivers until they were already opened. Like you could actually see that the game was too fast for him his athleticism and you know the fact that they were playing against backups was making him do well because as soon as he started playing starters he has suck terribly bad and it's because the game is way too fast he doesn't throw until he sees open and in the NFL you cannot do that to be a consistent quarterback you have to throw the ball before the receiver gets open because if you wait it's either going to be a sack or you're going to be picked off because by the time the ball gets there the receiver will not be open anymore. Mark my words right now Bagent in 15 years will be the best quarterback to Bears ever had I don't know what it is but this is the first guy I just watch and I have confidence in I don't know why just something about him is different. Different than McMahon different than Cutler different than Grossman different than Orton different than anybody who has played quarterback for the Bears different than trubisky everything there's something different I feel about this kid when I watch him play it's different I don't know what it is I can't verbalize it but it's different and I like it.

what you're seeing is experience in the position. Bagent had more than twice as many snaps in college than Justin Fields had in college and NFL combined. Same comparison to the top 3 QBs drafted this year. What you're seeing is Bagent merely playing in a system he already knows very well as it's the same system he played in college. The playbook and terminology may be different, but the scheme is the same. However, don't let that fool you into thinking he's the next greatest thing. In college, most of his success came from the scheme. Bagent's main weakness is he tends to make very bad decisions when under pressure (as in, worse than league average). He can skip reads, and forget his mechanics/form when he's in that situation leading to some very ill-advised passes off his back foot which become interceptions. We haven't seen him do that in the NFL, but it's part of his DNA. So prepare yourself because he's gonna see a lot of Khalil Mack in his face this week. Hopefully Bagent will have learned his lesson. I wouldn't put Bagent ahead of McMahon. McMahon had an intuitive feel for the game. it didn't matter what offense he played in, he had an uncanny knack to know where to go with the ball. Bagent, on the other hand, just looks very practiced/rehearsed. He's making the right moves, but his best moves against the Raiders were the type of thing he'd already done 100 times before. So it looked smooth. I don't think he does as well when the play blows up in his face - as demonstrated vs. the Vikings. McMahon was able to use his mobility to buy time to make something happen off script as he'd direct his receivers on the field and throw it there. Bagent stays within the script and simply makes the best of the situation. You don't see him directing the receivers downfield or improvising to manufacture something out of nothing.

Hey Dan ! Wake up. An. NFL QB must run the coaches system not the other way around . If the starter is injured the backup comes in and runs the same system without screwing around with the game plan. Fields style of play is an injury waiting to happen , especially when he hangs onto ball for an eternity because he can't figure out what open receiver to throw to ,so he takes a sack or takes off running . He's already missed time from injuries in each year in the NFL. And OB., don't look down your nose at Mitch Trubisky ! Mitch had a 29 -- 22 record when he left , in two plus years Fields is 7 -- 26 with 27 int's , 32 fumbles, and 115 sacks. Mitch is Dan Marino compared to Fields. If you really want to utilize his talent , put him in the slot and let him run routes !!!

Mitch Trubisky compiled majority of his stats in garbage time of losses. Take away the garbage time and he's in the same boat as Fields. His won/loss record may be better, but it's not saying much as some of those wins came against the inept Detroit Lions where Matt Patricia ran man defense to the benefit of Trubisky's weakness for zone.

Why does everyone constantly ignore that the most successful Ohio State QB to ever play in the NFL played as a kicker. They don't develop QBs they leave them broken and neigh unfixable. UGA didn't bench Fields immediately because he was the next future hall of famer, they benched him because he wasn't ready to start against real competition even in college, he needed to learn to squash his fears and his flaws and he wasn't going to do that starting and having the rest of the team carry him. When he left UGA for OSU I facepalmed cause I knew he just set himself back at least 3 maybe 4 years from being NFL capable consistently. Fields is a great kid, he's got a great attitude and personality but ChiTown can't develop him, if he gets traded to someone else maybe after a couple years learning behind a vet and lots of reps he'll get over freezing on blitzes, release the ball quicker, step back faster and utilize his ability and be the QB he could have been if he had stayed at Georgia.
