This is what's called a fact, and they're apparently rare these days because people walk around not knowing something (which isn't a bad thing) yet insisting they do know (this is the bad thing). The early 90s were such a great time for beginner guitar players, because so many of the popular songs had just a few easy chords, so you were encouraged to be able to play something that actually sounded a bit like a popular song, and you could impress a girl or two in your high school. Obviously that doesn’t really describe Radiohead at all (other than Creep and a few others), but Nirvana, Green Day, etc.? It was doable.
