This is Senior Grand Master Ed Parker teaching a black Belt seminar in approximately 1988.
I haven't seen this since the nineties, and just found it while moving!
Back in the eighties, Mr. Parker was just publishing his books, and his American Kenpo Concepts and principles were not common knowledge; he was miles ahead of everyone!
Nowadays, most dedicated Kenpo practitioners will be familiar with his material, but very few people can mach Mr. Parker's charisma, confidence, and powerful mastery of movement. His anecdotes are legendary.
I am a teacher, of martial arts but also other classes, and I learned so much just about teaching from watching Mr. Parker teach seminars and lessons when I first stared karate with Bob Liles.
Enjoy!

Seeing footage of Ed Parker breaking it down for his students...makes one aware of how vital it is to have a great instructor...in this case the "father of American Kenpo". When I studied Chito-Ryu as a kid my Sensei never broke it dow. Never took the time to explain body mechanics. They would just show us how and we'd try to copy them. They never really watched you and corrected you when you didn't get it right. When you were in the wrong position. Not that there weren't good martial arts schools in my city of Toronto. But I don't think any of them had the level of instruction available in Los Angeles where so many of the "big names" happen to be. Not sure how this came to be. Making LA the "mecca of martial arts". All the top names are there. Dan Inosanto, Philip & Simon Rhee, Bong Soo Han, Benny Urquidez...
