I have purposely left out Never On Sunday - "The Journey" as being the vocal sample in the intro of 'Alien Girl'. Although "The Journey" is widely referred to, Optical himself has stated that the sample comes from a 1970s-movie rather (a french girl whispering, reversed). (??)

That song does have backwards French vocals, pretty similar in some ways....but its not actually the same in Alien Girl if you listen carefully....plus the sample we used was forwards and not from a music recording...we reversed it in a our sampler...good guess though ;o]

Cheers, Burnz. I don't have any information on the sample source for "Cruisin' Detroit", I'm afraid. Other than Big Bud used (or recorded) it a year earlier in 1995 for "Faceless" on Underdog Recs. It seems like PFM didn't use a whole lot of samples - but I'll see what I can find. Just finishing up on a list of Dillinja-samples. And I might do a Peshay one as well.

@Andy 6358 You're on to something 😃 That hadn't even crossed my mind. It's theoretically plausible seeing that the Simpsons episode is from October 1995 and the Zero-G CD is from 1996. But I assume it's more likely that the actual sound originates from another sound library entirely.

Would love to learn more about the bass sounds used be it samples or synths, especially from artists such as Aphrodite and Shy FX(been trying to find the bass sound from the wolf tune for years). Just about all of the samples used in 'Alien Girl' is off the Cuckooland Vol.1 - Unhinged Sampling CD. The sample in question is called 'Bus Door' on the CD. The Simpsons used the same Cuckooland-sample, yes. As well as various anime shows around the same time - whenever a bus would hit the brakes.
