I hope folks realize that every piece of the Golden Nugget has been touched by many hands, at each stage even. This is the definition of a custom built vehicle. First, great job on the nugget. Just an FYI. Stainless bolts will cold weld if you don't use a little grease when assembling them. Also they can be pretty weak. Think grade 2. I learned this the hard way while "restoring" my '71 Triumph. I use all grade 8 bolts (the gold ones) for the suspension parts.

It's obvious to me that this is a Father's Day gift for Ed. I hope I can have as much esteem shown me, as you're showing Ed you have for him. This is a marvelous rebuild. All Ed wanted was a paint job, but he's getting sooo much more than that. Kudos for a job well done!

When installing stainless bolts it helps to use STL thread lubricant. It makes a world of difference in getting the bolts back of.

This right here. Stainless on stainless galls and cold welds itself together.

NO-LOX, NEVR-SEESE or STL8, are a must use with stainless.

And/or, just hit it with penetrating oil before removal. Night and day difference.

@@JGuraan Not on stainless to stainless. If you dont use some kind of lube when putting together it welds itself together. The only thing to do then is cut it or break it to get it apart.
@JGuraan2 жыл бұрын
@@edmundanderson657 Idk, it's worked fine for me every time. And that's hundreds of times. From what I understand of the concept, the welding isn't so much a problem because it truly bonds the threads together, but because it makes the surfaces rough enough to massively increase the friction between threads. Thus adding penetrating lubricant, even at disassembly, allows what little actual joining has occurred to be broken.

Good to see the Nugget project moving along! You guys do great work, I love watching all the projects you do! I really enjoy the 'Story time with Paul and Ben' or someone else talking about the 'good old days' with Paul. Good job editing Michelle! You all seem like family to many of us out here in viewer land!
