I had a 1966, about the same condition as Ed's. I can't count how many times I was peeled off the bike because the bush got too tight. The Rokon would just keep going, the only limit I found was my ability to stay on it. Best thing to do is think of it as a trials bike, put the bars higher and stand up more often. You guys did a good job bringing this one back.

Watching this video brought back good memories of me and my old buddy Cowboy (RIP) 14 years old at the time, riding our Honda 90s through the woods, mud, trees, etc., just to get to the hard roads where we’d ride our butts off. Of course our parents didn’t know we were on the highways, we were just “trail riding”. Love watching your videos. God Bless

Around 1970 my dad sold these at his garage ... the traction on trails over trees and up hills was formidable. As long as you could hang on you could go over almost anything. 😮❤

Remember seeing the ads for the original one in magazines like Popular Mechanics & Mechanics Illustrated back in the day. Always assumed loggers, farmers & the Forestry service bought these. I only saw one in person once at a campground. The owner described it as a motorized mountain goat! Good work, Ed will be proud!😁👍

I have a 69 the same as the one in the video. its fun to ride, but its not all that fun at the same time. The slowness of it kind of just brings down the fun level. Hi guys. I've been watching the rebuild of the nugget and the "Baby Nugget ". Back in the mud to late eighties, I work on a Game Ranch in Hluhluwe, in South Africa. There were two Robin's laying under some old tarps gathering dust. Apparently left after a movie being made about Game capture, and the Rokons were used in the movie. They hadn't run for years, but after a bit 8 managed to get one running. I took it for a ride around the ranch. Fun to ride. The only draw back was that mud would get stuck between the wheels and frame, locking up. But it was good fun. Thanks for bring back memories.

I rode an original version a decade ago. It was a rough riding bastard with no suspension. My childhood 1969 Honda 70 didn't have much suspension but it rode like a Cadillac compared to an old Rokon. Just a pogo seat post would have probably been enough and it would still preserve the classic lines that original bike shape has.

They are already familiar with four wheelers and we have a ton of paths and trails to ride down here at the old home place down in York County here. So it’ll just start to give that two wheel feeling. So this video has sold me I’m gettin’ a ROCON! Probably a vintage and a new one just for the girls to have options.

You really should start off in 1st and shift through the gears, the Albion trans. in that bike is made to shift on the fly and that clutch will thank you for it. Another thing on these old beasts, the transmission cover is a weak link when kick starting and is very hard to find. It would be a good idea to use the rope start and save the kick for backup.

The more weight you out on the front tire the better a rokon will climb. And they'll pack out a deer or even elk. And there are but really hard to find pumps, side cars and trailers and all kinds of different things. They were originally made as a utility work vehicle. And lots of militaries used them overseas. There are still some available but the old ones are hard to find. There are rokon clubs.
