Ed originally wasn’t going to put this on the album, but when he played it at his grandmother’s funeral, his grandfather told him he should put it on the album (which he had been working on prior to his grandmother’s passing).

The first time I heard the song was last night as I was grief gardening. Just had Pandora on and it came on and immediately the melody and lyrics caught my attention. My mom is still alive and this hit me in the gut. My daughter passed away shortly before her 4th birthday 7 years ago and life has been extremely hard since. No break to just grieve, so I grieve in pieces when I can. I have 5 other children to take care of and I have to push myself hard so I don't crash and burn from my own serious health issues. I am worried that it may not be long before my own children listen to this song in memory of me as my body continues to spiral.

This song hits you right where you live and even more so when you have just lost someone. It makes us cry and miss that person for sure but…. there is a happy side that they were a part of your life and what they meant to you. Just a part of life we all go through and Ed’s ability to put that into words is remarkable. Much respect sir….

So, this is actually a fan-made video! The footage is all of Ed and his family (much of it taken from his official music video for Photograph) - unfortunately, his grandma shown in this video is still living - she's not the one who passed away. The song is about his maternal grandmother, written from Ed's mother's POV. But we are seeing footage of his paternal grandmother in this video. Oops.😳

Ok two songs you gotta check out. First up visiting hours. Its a song ed sheeran wrote after his good mate musical producer micheal gudinski passed away. Its another moving song. Also monsters by james blunt is just...heart wrenching is not a strong enough word to describe how deeply emotional cathartic and painful that song is. Its beautiful and deserves a listen.

I've watched several people react to this a few times, and, like with you guys, I cried along each time. The song is so emotional and real, and gets me every time. Another emotional song like this one is "Sissy's Song", by Alan Jackson, and I think you'll live it, too. Thanks to both of you for being relatable and real! ❤️❤️❤️

my paternal grandmother passed this morning so...this really hits on a real personal level. Whatever me and my sister are updating to her on our lives(we live in different countries) via video call or phone calls, she, without fail, always always has positive things to say, and giving us unconditional support. No matter what the update was, be it a bad choice or happening in our lives, she was always saying nice things about them. Such a wonderful soul. May you rest in eternal peace, Phua Phua. I miss you.

Please listen to Amy MacDonald, just have a listen to some of her songs and I guarantee you that you will like most of her songs. She's Scotland's pride, most of her music makes it to number one in Germany because to make it to number 1 in the UK when you're from Scotland and it's only Scottish stations playing her music compared to England were it's 75mil to 5mil it's just not going to happen. As you said, "you like music that bring out emotions" Amy brings out all emotions, she's telling stories in her songs and prefers her music to be called folk music, not pop and if you listen you'll understand why, every song has a different emotion, some you feel pride, sadness, happiness, appreciation of beauty, joy, admiration, adoration etc it's all there. Please have a listen. I don't want to recommend one I'd rather you find your own gem, you will find one please believe me. I will be subscribing now. James

It's not because she's Scottish that she doesn't chart here, plenty of Scottish artists are successful in England. That's not to say she's bad either.
