I've learned all parts of this song on acoustic, but the official version on the album is the one I learned. I love them both, but I really want to perform it the way he does it here because it has a more cheerful feeling to it. There is a *lot* of circumstantial evidence that this song is about Taylor Swift. They are good friends, he opened for her on the Red tour, and the two frequently wrote together. For one, "Tenerife Sea" abbreviates to "TS" The chorus contains exactly 13 words; Swift frequently references her lucky number 13 Blue eyes Physical height Hairstyle Everything supports the theory except for the final (semi-inaudiable) 'Best/Beth' which is something Ed put in to give himself plausible denial So my take is that Ed developed feelings for Swift at some point and wrote this song as a public confession; like how else would two talented singer/songwriters to communicate? 8-P
