There isn't a thing Tony played on that you cannot gain learning from. He was a complete musician who knew composition and published some very fine works. I got hooked on Tony in 1973 fr m the album EGO and went back into Miles. I followed Tony right til his untimely death in 1997. I miss him still.

Absolutely. After 25 years, it's still hard to accept he's gone. Thankfully the legacy of work he left, is here to stay forever.

Thanks for that great Tony Williams story and its timeless drumming wisdom. On Tony's "Believe It" album in particular you can hear him stop momentarily more than once, probably to get his bearings, but doing so interjects some space and interrupts the onslaught ever so briefly which broadens the dynamics.

Great story! Check out Tony at age 16 on Jackie McLean “The Other Side of the Story”, already incredible. Thanks Drum Channel!

Great story about Tony Williams. He had great chops at a very young age. Fantastic advice from Ed Soph about playing through, even if you’re not sure where you’re at in the song. He’s one of the best Drum Teachers for sure.

Drummers, The New Tony Williams Lifetime album, Believe It. That album got a hold of me pretty good. Still fantastic.

The original release was six tracks. No bonus tracks. It was meant to start and finish there. Alters it when changes are made.

@@Gargoyle3438 Agree - sometimes additional tracks and outtakes should stay with the past - final album masters are usually very careful selections and should be left as they are.

I'm gonna leave you with idea. I just tried to play drum the way There is another drum set upside down on it so when I pull my hand up I get double hit. I really liked the sound. No one has tried that. Would you be willing to be first. I really feel like I have something for rock music

I went to a Music Conservatory once to take drums lessons. Did and audition to the teacher there, did a little solo to him and all. Once I finished, what I thought it was a shameful rather ridiculous solo, I stopped and look to the teacher asking how to improve, he told me: "you just need to play in a band, I don't know what else to teach you". True story.✌😊
