Le Smolin seems to have developed the early stages of cerebral palsy, or something similar. His mind seems to be intact but his physical movements look strained, as if he's lost some amount of control over them. His ideas are fabulous, even if occasionally eccentric.

Indeed, Lee Smolin is the smartest, his theory of natural selection of the constants of the parameter space hasn't been refuted in the last 35 years. His 'landscape' is the most captivating scenario, makes Susskind jealous.

Speaking as a Peter Woit fan and a longtime internet flame warrior, I worry that Lee wasn't sensitive enough to Witten's advice to get out of foundational research and into condensed matter theory. Far from scientific criticism, it smells to me like a political maneuver by a cult leader to steer a real scientist away from debunking the cult's dogma.

I think what I never understood was on the divisibility of matter, can you cut an electron in half? What is it made of? Does it have a shape? A boundary? Never understood it.
