when I was in 1st grade, this girl had extremely long, but absolutely gorgeous hair that reached down to her thighs, when I tell you 1st grade me adored her hair. we had this little circle we would sit down in and our teacher would read us books. I got to sit behind her, and of course, little 1st grade me tapped on the girls shoulder and complimented her braids, and then asked if I could play with them and she said sure but to just be gentle bc she had just gotten them done, so I started playing with her hair and massaging her scalp, ironically, she almost fell asleep. I had to tap on her shoulder in order to keep her from falling asleep. if the teacher wasn’t there, I would’ve honestly let her. that was one of the sweetest memories I had of 1st grade.

I had a difficult upbringing and the biggest thing that got me through it was my friends. They became my family. I remember getting to spend the night at my friends’ houses and I always felt so safe. We’d stay up late whispering stories and talking about everything and anything and playing with each other’s hair. Hearing these videos take me back to those nights where I managed to find peace and security with them. I don’t think my friends ever really understood that they saved me, and I don’t know where I’d be without those times. I’m getting married in a couple months and those same friends are in my wedding!
