also the ß exists, which is pronounced like the s in the word soup, but in german we have two versions of pronouncing s ("soft/voiced" s sounds like the english z, and the "sharp" is just your normal s in english, but we use an extra letter ß for it). Before ß was included for this very specific purpose, we just used a double s (ss), which now is used similar to english: a faster sound to the vocal previous to the double letter. The written language was changed just for the ominous ß in 1996 (we call it the "neue Schreibeweise/new writing style"). And z again is like a sharp hissing almost, basically ts. Man I hate my own language sometimes

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed and appreciate this. I first became interested in the German language when I listened to the band Rammstein. At the time I didn't care that I didn't know the language. I absolutely love the music and I did alot of translating 😄 Thank you again for the video!!! ❤❤❤

@@shaddoll_moth5801 it is! But the pronunciation is more similar to portuguese because, while in English you say hey bee cee dee, in Portuguese we say á bê cê dê, which are sounds you don't have in English

So as a child for 3 years I lived in Nurnburg Germany making me a fluent German and English speaker. But when I moved back to America at 5 I was never spoken to in German meaning that I now have fluent german still in my mind making it more easy if I ever want to pick up german again (Wich I do!) thank you so much Eda!

Então, eu descobri que o alfabeto alemão é BEM parecido com o alfabeto brasileiro. E minha curiosidade em aprender alemão só aumentou agora, hahahah! I love this video. I wonder if she could do this at the start of every video. She could take our suggestions and tell us what they are in German. Or she could make a series about German. i couldn't sleep for the first time watching this video because I was surprised with how similar the alphabet sounds with Brazilian Portuguese alphabet. maybe 3 letters different but even the Y is "ipissilon" I love it!! now im going to watch again to sleep 😅

I grew up around people who spoke German. And used to speak it. But I am a bit rusty now. Since I have to focus on Spanish for my university degree. Can you please do more? This is a great reminder for me, as well as a good time to relax.

Ok we need a story time where you go into detail about how you learned the other languages you know. Like how do you speak English with such little accent!!! I adored this whole video!!! And fun little fact. Here in the USA we have a place we go to called Autobahn (pronounced: ought toe bon here in the states) that does go kart racing and axe throwing. It's fun but kinda expensive. So it was cool for me to learn it's a German word!

Fun fact: the word "umfahren" in german is the opposite of "umfahren" "Du kannst ihn nicht *umfahren,* du musst ihn *umfahren* " means: "You can't *run him over,* you have to *drive around* him"
