the cold steel mini tuff lite is a sick knife if you're only going to be opening boxes and envelopes. it was only $17 at knife center and i still carry it along with my other, larger edc knives. kinda surprised you didn't mention the rat2. i friggin love that thing.
@PreppingItForward9 жыл бұрын
+partykrew666 Just working with what I had at the time. The Cold Steel Mini Tuff and the Ontario Rat 1 or 2 are a couple more great examples of many other options that would fit this category.

Excellent, well thought out and precisely explained video. Almost 'educational' in it's delivery. Measurements and weights would have been a bonus but that information is easily obtained elsewhere. Thanks for posting.
@PreppingItForward10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul! This was meant to be more of a basic educational / intro video on blade shapes, handle materials and locking mechanisms. I could have easily slipped in measurements and weights for sure. If or when I get around to individual knife reviews I'll be sure to include them.

Thanks for this overview. I have the Buck bantam but also use Victorinox and traditional pocket knives. Ka-bar Dozier is good too, just wish it was G-10 instead of hard plastic FRN handle.

Nice vid! Check out the Kershaws Compound & Clash. The Clash has an amazing fit in the hand, I actually never felt such a good handleform. It even beats the handle of the CS Recon 1! The Compound has a more elongated handle but it's still rather nice to the hand (but put some griptape onto the bladespine).

I need to buy a knife soon. I like the Flipper with Spring Assist or the Thumb Stud/Hole design. Can you recommend a few of the best choices for something in the range not to exceed $40-50 with a 3-3.5 inch blade?
@PreppingItForward10 жыл бұрын
SanFranciscoBay Kershaw has a great line of spring assisted flippers. A few good options may be the Kershaw Clash, Cryo I or II, Thermite, Swerve and OSO Sweet. Great quality for the money in the sub $50 range.

If you need a knife that will open quickly in an emergency situation as in Self Defense, what do you think is the most reliable and fastest method of opening a folding knife? Would you choose a Thumb Hole, a Thumb Stud or a Flipper and are there more methods of opening for legal carry purposes? Would you choose spring assist or non spring assist?
@PreppingItForward10 жыл бұрын
SanFranciscoBay The Emerson wave feature is by far the fastest way to deploy a knife from the pocket. The Kershaw Emerson CQC collaboration offers the Emerson's wave feature design at a very affordable price point (sub $50). Check out the Kershaw Emerson CQC 6K (drop point) and CQC 7K (tanto).

I for one EDC (and _use_) a Buck like that. All I need. Bought it for 19 USD. It opens up w/no problems even in -20 C and below. The backlock system is superior than anything else (linners are bad and will let you down, IMO). Best&cheers from Nuuk/Greenland (HNYear15!!).
