You’re so transparent and honest in your testing and reviews!!! I wonder how many knives get fully tested before makers start selling them to customers! Great job to you and Levi!!!

As always I love your transparency and honesty. So much respect for your integrity and the fact that you’re not bought and paid for by big companies to market their products. However, I would hope that knife makers you collaborate with compensate you with a no charge knife that you helped design. Hopefully someday I’ll get my hands on a “Dart”!!!

Yes! So the knives I help design, I am given for free. But I do not get any part of the money made off my designs when they’re sold. And I don’t want any!!!! I love just being in this because I’m passionate🥰I appreciate you brother!

Carrying my Spyderco Manix 2 in S30V, chrome version of the space pen with the removable pocket clip, a Bic lighter, a cleaning cloth and as always my MiniBuck Tool which I've had in my pocket since 1997, maybe 98... I have quite a few fixed blade knives, and I've never thought to check bevel angles or the thickness behind the edge. I think I have some homework to do. Good video. Thanks Erica.

4V sounds like an interesting steel, I have never messed with it. You are absolutely right on how important edge geometry is. A "lower" and "cheaper" steel can hold an edge longer than a "super steel" if it's edge geometry is good, but the super steels geometry is too obtuse. First decide on the tasks that the knife is to preform, then choose a proper steel for the job, heat treat it for the intended use, and put on the proper edge geometry. When everything is thought out and implemented properly the result is an outstanding tool! The steel and heat treat determine what geometry the knife can support. That geometry can be altered in the workable range according to the tasks at hand. Many times if you have some of those tiny rolls a steeper micro bevel will solve the problem. The advantage of this is that the knife will also be faster to sharpen since the micro bevel is so small.

You got it K!!! Geometry over rides a LOT in a knife!!! 4V is a BLAST!!Thanks so much for watching!

that is a nice knife! and great to hear of the testing! "just a hair" can be a much bigger difference than you might think. when I first got into making straight razors, i started measuring things like that. most of the head hair that i measured was between .003"-.006" in diameter. if you take a normal edc class knife and run the edge at .010" at the shoulder of the edge, then just a hair thicker might be .016" which is 60% more. thats a lot more.

Exactly!!!! Geometry is so important and I don’t think everyone knows how crucial it is!!! Thanks so much for watching Joe. I always enjoy hearing from you!

Thanks for sharing about your EDC and I look forward to the upcoming reviews. I too find that my Super Tinker is the one SAK that always winds up in my pocket over all the other ones I own. 👍 Take care and Cheers!

I love that Nitro V knife. I’ve got a couple knives in that. Also have one in 4V. It’s cool you mentioned Nick Shabazz. Like that guy. He’s hilarious. If you are bored sometime. Watch Nicks video where he goes through TSA confiscated knives. You will belly laugh. It was GREAT!
