Humble? I love Ed to death- he's an honest hero of mine, but he's not a humble man. Well, I'm sure if you change the subject, he may be but- when it comes to cave diving (which is all I've ever heard him talk about) he knows he's the man- and doesn't mind talking about it. He owns it- which is refreshing tbh. I know so many guys who are amazing at whatever their passion is but- they refuse to admit it. You know they know- I play guitar- when you're that good, you know it- but they always act like "Who? Little ole me?" It's kind of patronizing in a way.

A great man, too. It must be difficult when you become "famous", to remain just as you are, regardless of what others may think (or over-think) of you. I like the way he gets into the way everyone was at the time. Rich Little couldn't do better. Depth of character and body with a light heart, true to himself - and very probably true to you, too. "And the other guy, he's just sitting in the mud, like a lunch break or something. Just sitting there. A union lunch break."I don't do any diving at all, but I bet Sorenson has a great analytical mind, planning, cautious, accurate - a General rank - and I have no idea what else goes into it. He probably tries to teach that to his students, or at least some of it.

Man, tell you what. He's one cool cat. I'm the furthest from a cave diver/explorer, you will never find me near a cave. But I'm a huge fan of his. I think what makes him so great is that he seems extremely focused on safety and rules. I think that should be everyone's primary focus. To have well defined lines, and to never cross those. Obviously these divers are always at the mercy of the elements or their equipment, but I personally feel that you can mitigate so much just by continuously sticking to strict rules. I think what also makes him great is his ability to remain calm when others might let panic set in upon incurring problems. I've watched several of his videos, and he seems to keep his cool by following specific steps, and not shying away from those by letting panic set in, thereby making bad decisions based on fear. And some of that is genetic. He's definitely the "warrior" and not the "worrier".

@addanametocontinue2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the instructor screwed up, but when he realized he wasn't going to be able to get through that crevice and there was zero visibility, coming up to get help from other people was the best thing to do. Abandoning them would be if he got out of the water and just went home.
