Humble? I love Ed to death- he's an honest hero of mine, but he's not a humble man. Well, I'm sure if you change the subject, he may be but- when it comes to cave diving (which is all I've ever heard him talk about) he knows he's the man- and doesn't mind talking about it. He owns it- which is refreshing tbh. I know so many guys who are amazing at whatever their passion is but- they refuse to admit it. You know they know- I play guitar- when you're that good, you know it- but they always act like "Who? Little ole me?" It's kind of patronizing in a way.

A great man, too. It must be difficult when you become "famous", to remain just as you are, regardless of what others may think (or over-think) of you. I like the way he gets into the way everyone was at the time. Rich Little couldn't do better. Depth of character and body with a light heart, true to himself - and very probably true to you, too. "And the other guy, he's just sitting in the mud, like a lunch break or something. Just sitting there. A union lunch break."I don't do any diving at all, but I bet Sorenson has a great analytical mind, planning, cautious, accurate - a General rank - and I have no idea what else goes into it. He probably tries to teach that to his students, or at least some of it.

Amazing... "I figured Edd would come and get me." Which Edd? LOL. When Edd can no longer dive safely, his skillset will die with him. I hate to say it, but due to Edd's sense of duty, his last dive might include his last breath as well. He goes into some places because no one else can. I hope he can find the wisdom to know when to hang it up. However many lives this guy has saved just through teaching, no one will know. No one has this guy's combination of intuition and skills. We can only hope that he finds a worthy successor.

When I got into cave diving 4 years ago I never dreamed I’d also hardly care about looking at fish, swimming in saltwater, or doing any kind of diving other than cave diving. But I was down there all last week, and already tweaking gear and getting ready to head back down in a couple of weeks. Saltwater…meh gotta rinse gear after that!

Ed actually rescued one of the cave divers that rescued the soccer team that was stuck in the cave for 12 days. The divers that were diving with him searched until out of air and essentially gave up and Ed was called for the body recovery. I believe it was 1 or almost,,2 days since he was missing Ed literally went in and within 45min was at the surface and someone snarled "he's giving up already" and few seconds later a light appears behind him and the missing diver pops out alive...Funny thing is that they asked what his plan was going in and he said I don't know and he went by himself so they had little faith he would be found because 4 pro divers couldn't find him. There was a big cavern he managed to find so he wasn't in the water which is why others couldn't find him. Type Ed Sorenson rescued Thai cave diver rescuer Ed was wearing a camera.
