What I love about seeing these old TV performances, besides the music which is awesome, is seeing the kids in the audience have such a good time.

Part of Eddie's magic was that his music was so raw but his stage act so elegant - like Elvis on castors.

Gangerollo Thanks for the information. I have been collecting since 1952. I have thousands of items on rock and roll era (1950's and 1960's) and a few letters from old artists. I love my collection and bring lots memories for me and my friends! P/S I'm still collecting items today.

Eddie would have been 72 today! He died the day after my 4th birthday in 1960. Twenty years later, I'd become a songwriter, and co-wrote songs with Sharon, Eddie's girlfriend, who co-wrote "Somethin' Else with Eddie. Twenty years later, Sharon would die. Ya gotta know they're together! Happy Birthday Eddie!

I feel that Sid Vicious did this song very well in the film Rock'n'Roll swindle. His bits are my favorite parts in the movie. The whole point was it was supposed to be gritty and not fluid, punk's point was to dissort the sounds of a lot of songs but also freshened up an forgotten 45 or old standard, not very different from what the British invasion groups had done ten years prior..

Eddie's brother, Bob Cochran, & Eddie's girlfriend, Shari Sheeley, share the credits on this song; but it sure fits Eddie, doesn't it? I think it's his best ripper. I saw him perform it in 1959. He was more aggressive than shown in this video. I think Bandstand tamed him down a bit. 50's TV, you know.

I love everything that Eddie Cochran ever recorded and I love the Sex Pistols first two singles. I think a lot of people are missing the point about the Cochran versus Vicious thing - Eddie was a genius in the studio - The sound on the first two Pistols singles is ace but the two Cochran covers are really bad - the sound of the guitar is muddy - complete contrast to the clean sound that Eddie got in the studio so Eddie wins hands down.
