Why do so many people reverse the video image? What is the purpose of doing so? For me, it completely ruins a video.

No purpose I'm only going off my phone for this so it's most probably came out that way..I wasn't to focused on that was just about playing the song sorry if it has I still think the video isn't bad you can see everything still

Perhaps it's just the way my brain works, but I've worked with a few left handed guitarists, and actually found that sitting opposite a "mirror image" is easier to follow, when your trying to learn or write something with that person.
