Awesome, keep the Eddie breakdowns coming 🤩 I've been studying him for many years, but haven't seen this footage before! Through some luck I've gotten to roll with him at Unity, not too long before he retired and his guard is crazy tight and dangerous on every corner. One lesser known aspects of his guard were his elbow control armbars (similar to what Danaher calls "te gatame") that (I believe) he learned from Krishna Mirjah, his first coach. The crazy thing with Eddie is, his old rolls still look quite modern. Nobody would question that this is a modern roll, given his approach and techniques used. So sad that he started grappling late in life and couldn't land proper superfights towards the end of his career.

Man, what a cool reply! Eddie is probably top 1 or 2 guy on my bucket list of folks to roll with that I don't think will ever happen. That's awesome you got a chance to roll with him. One of my good homies used to train at RGA Brooklyn after Eddie went there and said he was ferocious. Interestingly I'd almost be more curious to pick his brain on non leg lock stuff. I agree that his rolls look super modern. Someone asked if the previous Eddie roll I posted was recent, so you're right. I think stylistically he might be the most influential grappler of the 2010's. Definitely the early to mid 10's.

Eddie and Marcelo are my favorites to watch. There is so much to learn from both of them but it’s hard to find footage of Eddie. Where are you finding some of this footage? Thanks bro

@@masonyoung1537 Thanks for checking it out! They're some of my favorites too! All of the narrated vids I've posted so far have the original footage links either posted in the description or the pinned comment. These Eddie rolls are from an awesome series that Polaris Professional Jiujitsu has over on their page of archived rolling footage that they filmed leading up to their events. :) Does this help?
