Thanks, Polaris! Everyone watching wants to see no-time-limit matches!

It's hard to leglock your opponent if he just defends your leg attacks, especially if it is an elite grappler like augusto Mendes but I will give credit to Eddie he did a better job than in adcc, some of the positions were really close to submission you can see how augusto got nervous
@curryman19957 жыл бұрын
hate leg locks or not, it was basically eddie attacking the whole time with medes defending

Did you miss the frequent pass attempts (and successful pass) by Tanquinho? Jiu-jitsu is about more than just playing guard.

@@josesoto3594 I haven't got the time to watch the whole thing right now, so I'll concede I might be mistaken about that, maybe it was just close, or I just recalled incorrectly. Either way, I stand by my original statement.

Kinda funny to see because of this old match though how Eddie's leglock game is compared, to today's standards, not even that impressive anymore. Basically shooting for Ashi Garami and ripping an outside heelhook out of it.

I am very impressed with Eddie Cummings and his recent victories in EBI. However, I cannot be the only person who gets tired of seeing Eddie but flopping into butterfly guard ALL THE TIME. I mean, has he ever attempted a takedown before? Eddie will beat the crap out of me, but as a BJJ fan, his strategy is starting to bore me.

I couldn’t agree more. There should be jiu jitsu and leg jitsu so we know what we can expect to see.

Ironically, Eddies one-dimensional strategy breathed new life into Jiujitsu. It became a perfect showcase of how the Leg Entanglements worked and all of the gripping strategies used to enter into the positions. In this video, you see Eddie get frustrated and tired and his one-dimmensionality turned against him, but in dozens of other matches it led to quick victory.

here's a noob observation that might be wrong... but if Eddie attacked straight ankle locks with his heel hooks Mendes would be much more reticent to pull out like that

Lol...go find a guy at that level tapping to a straight ankle lock.
@dagus8343 жыл бұрын
You were actually right. Eddie was creating heel exposure too quickly and losing control. He might have had better success if he stuck to breaking his opponent down and control for a few seconds before trying to expose and rotate the heel.

Eddie was significantly more tired at the end of their match compared to Mendes. If this was no time limit, Eddie's gas tank would empty faster than Tanquinho's and would be more likely to make a mistake eventually.

He submitted two of his EBI 7 opponents with RNCs, chill. Like Cummings himself said, he only attacks the legs because most of his opponents expose them in order to protect their upper body.

Noodlehorn you clearly don't understand, but this is the reason bjj doesn't dominate the ufc aswell as it should, most people spend 10 years training crap then get in the cage and are blue belts at the moves that count.
