@@Castlepa26 won by points
@jsl84614 жыл бұрын
@@Castlepa26 ADCC rules different from IBJJF rules. The first half is no points, the second half is points. The points system is different. Two of the biggest differences is that you get a 1 point penalty for pulling guard, and the criteria for a takedown is much more difficult to fulfill, but there are others too. In ADCC, all leg locks including heel hooks are legal. Also, it is legal to slam to escape a submission. Marcelo got a takedown in the second half that was worth 2 points. He also got a takedown in the first half, but since it's ADCC rules no points are scored during that time period. The score ended up being 2-0. If this were IBJJF rules, the score would have been 4-0.

@celica965 жыл бұрын
@Jeff C good point. If one is so inclined, you can think of it this way: anything that gets you point in a BJJ tournament is very good in a street fight. For example, takedowns would break the guys back on concrete, or sweeps, or guard passing so you can punch him while in side control, or knee on belly which hurts the uninitiated quite a lot and is a good control position, or mount where you can deliver many many strikes. So I actually prefer the points system to sub only, because in fact, positional advancement is huge part of MMA or practically, and you can do many many other things that aren't subs, and you should really fight for positions.

@Jeff C What a ridiculous thing to say. Half of freestyle wrestling is the 'art', for lack of a better word, of remaining on one's feet despite the fact someone must go down in order to win. As far as they're standing, Marcelo would be impotent against a top-flight D1 wrestler; it's just plain to see given his posture and general body positioning in relation to how the hypothetical wrestler would ordinate his arms, legs, and torso. This is coming from a big BJJ fan. The portion of the respective sports where competitors are standing aren't anything alike or transferable.

To anyone who thinks that guillotine from the closed guard was close, look at how Marcelo's demeanor did not change when Kron slipped his arm through and clinched with his other arm. Marcelo does not underestimate the choke as you can see by his defensive counter such as shifting to the weak side, weaving through the arm on the far side of the choke, sitting back on his heels, and also preventing Kron from full extending for the choke. You can also see that Marcelo never employs any desperate tactics. I'm willing to bet that most of the time, the blade of Kron's arm was across Marcelo's chin. Fatigue definitely played a part for Kron, but amazing match that had two of the most beautiful wrestling based takedowns in a Jiu Jitsu match.

Can somebody please tell me how Marcelo won this match? Seems like it just kind of ends with no submission or anything. Where was the "winning move" exactly? Pardon my complete lack of BJJ understanding.
