I love how all of Thor's fanboys are coming here to say shit abt how this wasn't a calibrated lift or in a competition bc of what Eddie said abt Thor's 501 attempt. It's the 18 inch deadlift for fucks sake, it's sad to say but no one cares abt the 18 inch deadlift. It was literally hard to find this video, and I've never once heard him or anyone talk abt this lift bc he's done the 500 in a competition and that is what everyone knows him for. This lift was literally just to promote his book. The world record deadlift is 1000 times more important than this lift, it will be all over the internet, and everyone will know abt it. And it could give strongman a bad look bc they allowed a very important world record to be broken in his own home gym

Instead of getting upset think about this logically, eddie claimed this as an official world record even though it was done out of competition and his good mate colin bryce is the referee. He then says thors lift shouldnt count because it wasnt in a competition. That's what is questionable about eddie is the fact he was pathetic enough to get so jealous that thor broke his record that he tried to discredit it any way he could. Unfortunately for eddie he can't pick and choose what counts and what doesnt and thor's deadlift was done at an officially sanctioned event with an official ref, the same referee for wsm and arnold classic in fact. And no this doesn't count as a world record because the weights aren't calibrated and it's not in an officially sanctioned event, it's sone books in a box and some fell out during the lift how the fk is that legit haha

Can we all start off by agreeing that if we could lift this we would be posting videos of ourselves doing it? Brian Shaw probably put it best commenting that Eddie and Thor are adults that can argue if they want without everyone else trying to be part of it. There's no doubt that this was a heavy lift. Eddie participated in a History channel series of historical strongmen where they replicated Anderson's famous Silver Dollar lift and the conclusion was that challenge was very awkward, difficult, and that the boxes were definitely not filled with silver dollars. Similarly there's no way of knowing the exact weight of the setup here, however there are clues to get you into the ballpark. Starting with the boxes are filled with Eddie's book. Standard hardcover book size is 6.5 x 9 inches, and if you look at 1:49 you can see the length of the box is probably around just over three books or roughly 30 inches. You can also see at 2:22, the box is about four books wide, and if the boxes are as square as they appear, this would also be roughly 30 inches. The height of the box is a bit more speculative, but you can see at 1:58 and 2:36 that the bar is just below Eddie's kneecap. Given Eddie's 75 inch height, that would place the bar height at 20-22 inches (I know "18 inch lift" but this is just rough estimates not calibrated science) with the bar about six inches from the top of the box. This all makes the box roughly 30 x 30 x 28 inches filled over the top with Eddie's book. A standard box of ten reams of A4 paper is 11 inches wide 17 inches long and 10 inches high weighing 20 pounds. An arrangement of those three wide, two long, and three high would be 33 x 34 x 30 inches (slightly larger than the estimated box size) and weigh 360 pounds. Multiply that by two gives you 720 pounds. If the boxes themselves each weigh 150 pounds and the bar weighs 150 pounds, that is a total weight of 1,170 pounds or 531.8 kg. Of course this is all rough estimates based on a non-scientific examination, but the point is that it is distinctly possible that this setup weighs 536 kg. But it's also possible that the bottom half of the boxes are just air and the bar is made of rubber, but I doubt it. Everything I presented here are raw estimate numbers for standard or average measurements that are easy to research with a little effort and just basic math. Just my opinion and you're free to have your own.

Anderson was a lot better lifter than any of them and came up with all kinds of training ideas modern dimbulbs would never dream up in a thousand years. I highly doubt he would ever fake a lift. Eddie and Thor don't get to decide what counts as wr or not, they have to live with the people doing the competitions and with the fans. If Thor breaks 500kg (and he's thinking of trying up to 520/530) then he has one record and one WSM win. You can hardly call that person the strongest man in history.
