I remember the gym I joined in my teens, i think I was 14, back in the early 80's. The owner was a former national bodybuilding champion back in the late 50's I think. It was in a space the size of maybe a 3 car garage, no A.C, only a ceiling fan and most of the weights, barbells, dumbells and machines were a mix of home made and professional. They were crude but just as effective as these shiny new machines in these country club gyms today. Several professional bodybuilders trained there so it wasn't a gym to muck around in especially when they were there. I was the only kid there but if you were there to train seriously and they saw the effort, they would help you out, spot you, give you tips and stuff. I used to spot on the bench press and squat for this one guy who was a multiple national bodybuilding champion. It was a thrill for me. You could make all the freaking noise you want as long as you were working out and the only rule was wipe the benches down after. It was gritty, dark, hot most of the time ( i lived in the tropics) and smelled like sweaty ass and cast iron, i used to go outside for fresh air between sets. 😁 I loved that gym.

That's not true. I've trained in that gym since the early '80s.. And I have first me seen a number of world class strongman lift tremendous amounts of weight in there. Massage back in the '80s the barbarian brothers we're doing seated behind the neck presses with 375 lbs.. and reverse bench grips with over 500 lb. And that's just the least of what I've seen.

Truth be told I could NEVER in my life pull their weight. I couldn't even imagine it but they I was actually surprised watching this video. The arms don't matter so much in a squat but if you look at their hips they both have a butt wink meaning their hips technically aren't mobile enough to squat to that depth. Which in my honest opinion makes their work that much more impressive. Lol they both have tight hips...and lack the mobility but can still do all the inhuman they do? That's actually scary.
