Eddie Hill was at a Cracker Barrel by my house. I was the only person there that knew who he was. Asked for a autograph. He pulled out a 8×10 picture of Eddie and the Pennzoil dragster. He signed it and even took some pictures of me and him when we went outside. What a great guy. Still have that picture framed and on my wall.

@@k5wxp22 You're so right about being a humble guy. Not sure about his rail hanging on the wall or not. That picture he gave me said first to break 300 I believe.I also have a poster of Don Garlits my oldest brother gave me. Well really someone else gave it to me after my brother passed. The picture was on a aircraft carrier.lt says those Magnificent Men in their flying machines.it shows him looking like he's doing a burnout on the carrier So Dam Cool.

When I was a kid growing up in Wichita Falls, Texas, I lived about a dozen houses down from "Fast Eddie". Eddie Hill was one of the most popular NHRA dragster racers of the 1980's. He began to earn his nick-names in 1962 by driving a Twin Pontiac gas engine dragster to a speed of 202.07 MPH, cementing him in the history books as the first man to break the 200 MPH threshold in a gas powered engine. However, perhaps he is best well known for driving the iconic Pennzoil Dragster in the NHRA. Besides being known as "Fast Eddie", his other nicknames were "The Thrill", "Holeshot Hill" and when he became the first man to have a run in the 4 second range with a time of 4.990 he was given the nickname "Four Father of Drag Racing". Besides racing on land, he also raced Drag Boats and became the first man to hold both land and water speed records simultaneously. He was a well decorated competitor by the time he retired in 1999. Sadly, he passed away in October of 2019; he will be missed by many.
