I appreciate the disclaimer on the Quackenbush match. To me the match resides in the same territorry as Devlin vs Starr from OTT's fifth anniversary: An incredible match forever tarred by the actions of it's performers. With that being said, you did an excellent job with this list, especially when showcasing the best qualities of the most underrated performer on the independent scene for the last two decades. Keep up the good work, my man.

Yeah I was surprised by the disclaimer but I appreciate it. It's a case where we cant love some matches the same way as before, although some can to some degree, its important to be aware of what they've done and never ignore it.

SO glad you included his match with Shane Storm. It was my third Chikara show I ever went to, and it blew me away. I have a little bit of context for that match that might help people enjoy it more. Leading up to this event, Chikara had really started getting some steam and more and more people were watching. While the strengths were definitely being shown (the silly characters, the lucha style, the super impressive tag teams, and specific wrestlers like King and Claudio), some of the weaknesses were shown as well. People weren't too big on Shane Storm, since he hadn't really done much in the past few years, and was just alright in matches. Fans grew a little tired of him, and when this match was announced I distinctly remember someone writing "The 2008 Eddie Kingston murder tour begins" on a forum. What ends up happening is Shane Storm's best match in years, with him bringing a very VERY physical fight to Kingston. This ends up leading down the road of a few more tough matches from Shane, and ultimately culminating in him embracing the fan's scorn, joining the UnStable and changing his look and name. It's one of my all time favorite matches from King, and I'm glad to see you give it the respect it deserves!

Subscriber here. Thanks for this retrospect on the last of a dying breed. He was one of the major wrestlers i followed as I got into indie wrestling, even to this day. Did my first wrestling cosplay as him. Used to look like him at some point and we even have the same birthday lol. His feuds with Shane storm, and lince dorado in chikara and Kevin steen in ring of honor were awesome, his work in impact and nwa recently is wonderful and his hero blood feud is the stuff of legend in every company they worked at. That grand champ match was also emotional. Now with him signed to AEW as of today, hope that the next year or so we get the best work he can do, and with his mic work he can sell aew to anyone. Maybe him vs mjf in a talkers showcase would be cool

I was actually at that show where Kingston and Hero faced off cause AIW is my hometown promotion in Cleveland OH. Matter of fact I've had the pleasure of seeing kingston live a bunch of times two other match that stick out to me of his AIW tenure are his match with Mia Yim in 2015 it was brutal but good nonetheless and just last year his match with Tom Lawlor from JLIT 2019 was REALLY good. I highly recommend checking out both!

Walking the King's Road is a perfect series (and I hope that fact remains for a long time), but this may also be a perfect series. This whole channel is incredible, really. Thanks for all of the effort you put into this Joseph. My first introduction to Eddie was his intro promo with Homicide at his side on NWA Powerrr. He made me an instant fan with that promo. He's an awesome, unique talent.

Just discovered your channel, excellent video. Eddie is one of my favorites, and one of the reasons I became a fan of wrestling again in ‘06 after stopping watching for several years. Another great example of the bully vs underdog dynamic would’ve been him vs Tim Donst from an ‘07 Chikara show, very brutal. I’d have also included either his Loser Leaves CZW match with Chris Hero, or their Last Man Standing from IWA-MS in ‘07. Great content, hope to see more of these 👍

From '06 to about '09 I used to go to CZW shows at the ECW Arena in Philly and while I got to witness the rise of a bunch of phenomenal talents (Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Jon Moxley, Sami Callihan, Adam Cole, and the list goes on) Eddie Kingston was always a standout for me. He's been one of the most underrated talents in wrestling for awhile and I'm glad AEW is finally giving him a proper platform to shine.

Haven't seen too much from him but of the work I've seen, I've been impressed. Also, yes, dude cuts a mean promo and that Dynamite promo was really a sampler. Although I've lost respect for Quack for what's come out, theres no denying he along with Eddie delivered an excellent main event from High Noon. If that was the only singles match they ever had then damn, what a match.

I was first introduced to King during his Impact run with LAX/the OGz and have been a fan of him ever since. He's really similar to Samoa Joe and Jon Moxley in that both men have this aura of believability in what they say and do- its really easy to just immerse yourself in the story they're telling. So glad to see him get a spotlight in a major promotion again, and I'm praying AEW sign him and put him back with Santana and Ortiz!

What’s great is your point on his promo work Cause I always recall how Simon Miller of Whatculture brings up how much he loves Eddie and his promos to the point he made a “Does Eddie Believe Wrestling Isn’t Really” Meter just to point out No he doesn’t because of how real he treats every feud and segment he gets involved in I mean I will die on the hill that he played one of the biggest parts in making the horrible mess that was the ending of that Deathmatch between Mox and Kenny with just his promo work alongside Moxley, Kenny, and Don They ALL worked there collective butts off to sell the badness that was that ending and Eddie helped make it at least not so bad anymore Which is more then can be said regarding a certain Cell match which only had a ref tweet about post match in a piss poor excuse to justify ITS terrible ending
