Eddie Money - Two Tickets To Paradise (SINGLE version) (1978)

This is the SINGLE remix version, that doesn't get much airplay. I think it is the BETTER version, because it is shorter, and has more "punch" to it. More often than not, the ALBUM version gets the most airplay. A #22 hit from 1978.

In honor of the passing of the great Eddie Money, I had to relisten to this version. Honestly, I do like the longer version but this version has some arrangements that make it all the epic.

I know what you mean. I always wondered what happened to the double guitar riffs. I wish they had a stereo version of this recording. The album version they play all the time on the radio is missing the guitar riffs;...."waited so long...(double guitar riff)...waited song long...(double guitar riff)". I use to play this in a band back in the late 70s.

This is the version I first heard when it debuted on Casey Kasem's "American Top 40." The whole arrangement sounded like an all-out celebration, from the doubled guitar work to Eddie's vocals that are equal parts joyful and urgent, like the band was performing this live in concert. When I got the album and heard the song, it sounded so barren that the first thing I said was, "Where is everything?" When remembering Eddie Money's career, this single version should be required listening.

I love that F ing guitar! I can't stand the LP version, it sound like it's dragging. This is the version that they played on the radio, to get you to buy the album, that this song isn't even on. Sounds live to me, because it is faster and the extra comments made by Eddie between "normal" lyrics. Very hard to find a great sounding 45 so thanks for posting.

Even back then, when the LP was new, the LP & the 45 were different. The album was basically a studio rendering of Money's live show at the time. So once the "Radio" got the LP, they stopped using the 45. Now radio has the CD and it is the same studio rendering. Look for the 45, this is the only official existence of this version.

The first time I heard this song was when my brother bought the 45 of this. Maybe a month later he bought Eddie Money's 1st album and I noticed right away how different the versions were. I think (to this day) that the single version has a hell of a lot more energy than the album version. Either way you can't go wrong. Honestly until this CD came out I was beginning to think I imagined the whole thing with the alternate version. Glad I wasn't completely out of my mind!

i was working on a customer's jukebox today and this record was one of the random ones that played while i was trying to get the sound right. unfortunately, everything sounded garbled so i thought maybe i was hearing wrong things. thanks to you uploading this my theory that i was hearing a different version is confirmed! it is way better than the album version but i do moss that soaring guitar solo from the commonly heard version.

This may not make sense, but while I can't say that I prefer one version over the other, this version is such a rare treat I enjoy it more when I hear it. Only the 7 inch 45 RPM record (pictured). The only way it has ever been officially available, You can download a clean copy and burn it to a CD, or MP3 player. That's what I did years ago.

This wasn't a fix! This is how it was originally. This 45 was ALL the radio stations had to play. 45's were used as promotional material. 45's often came out first to see if an album was worth making.

In my opinion, this is an inferior arrangement. For one thing, having only one verse before the first chorus works against the idea of the "waited so long" line. Repeating the verse/pre-chorus before the first chorus, as the more common version does - especially with "waited so long" being the lyrics of the pre-chorus, builds up the anticipation the song is meant to convey, making that first arrival of the chorus that much more explosive and liberating. Also, those busy guitar licks under the "waited so long" lines here are unnecessary and distracting. The common version is the rightfully enduring one. RIP Eddie.
