As a young kid in way-different then Tucson Arizona, I remember my folks took a drive around one evening just to cool off from the wicked heat, and I remember Dad saying "there's Eddie Peabody's home" as we drove by slowly. It was just your nice, clean Ranch-style home that was prob. built in the 50's. This would have been around 1962-3. He had to explain to me who Mr. Peabody was....I had no clue. FWIW....the home was just due west a block or two of the Casas Adobes Shopping Cntr. at Ina / Oracle. I think it's still there, come to think of it.

@@MichaelSmith-gp1gu Michael - I didn’t live in Tucson (although my name is Smith!), but I’ve been playing Tenor Banjo for 60yrs. It’s great fun to play & many folks enjoy listening. If you don’t have a teacher or instruction book yet, I recommend the old Harry Reser book. Also, check out the possibility of joining a Banjo Band in your area for performance experience & fun. I’ve been a member of the San Francisco Banjo Band since 2006…view our too many videos on KZbin, if you like! - BanjoBob

Scruggs played the 5 string banjo. It’s a different animal than the plectrum banjo.

I had no idea you could play tunes on the banjo. I thought you just pay open chords & occasionally hammer on the 6th to partially alleviate the audience’s boredom.

That was his genius and why his career spanned four decades.

You can play anything you want to on the banjo jazz, dixe, blues, classical, funk, bluegrass, or anything. Check out Bella Fleck.

How is that second song not musical?
@markosterman4193 жыл бұрын
It would be so much more musical if he played slower. It’s a shame that over the years banjoists have felt that the novelty of speed was important.
