No, I'm pretty sure it was planned. A lot, if not all, of these things are planned. They let the famous guest to know what they plan on asking him to do beforehand to make sure they have no problem. Because it would be bad if they asked him for the first time live and the famous guest really didn't wanna do it, but the guest were screaming for them to do it. I remember when Colleen Ballinger was a guest and Jimmy asked her to be her alter ego, Miranda, and he acted like he just thought of it, but Miranda's costume was sitting next to Colleen on set the whole time.
