I have had a conversation with Eddie Vedder while surfing in San Diego 31 years ago. It was during pearl jam's Ten release and he was just trying to breath a little taking a moment to just be a simple human being and surfer. We never talked about music but only about surfing. I helped him fix the fin on his board and drank a beer with him sitting on tailgate of my truck with my two Australian shepherds who Eddie fell in love with👍. Yep I spent about an hour with this fellow surfer and I tell you he's just a regular shy person with a beautiful spirit. I'm grateful for that moment in time, was priceless

I hate that statement. What does that mean???? So dumb
@melissacooper6109Ай бұрын
@@lazyrider6918 I was just in high school when the “grunge “ era began and that was 1991. That was such an impactful and memorable era bc there was so much music from that time that so many people still listen to today. A lot of those bands from the grunge era have lost band members along the way i.e. Kurt Cobain,Layne Staley,Chris Cornell, and the list is much too long so forgive me for just naming a few . But, imo, I think what they meant by that statement is that Eddie Vedder is one of the few who is still alive today from the grunge era and Pearl Jam still plays shows today. There aren’t many frontmen from that era who are still alive AND playing today so my best guess is that’s why they said ‘We must protect Eddie at all costs “. I hope this made some sense. 😊☮️The music from that era is truly timeless!!!

Damn....dude really moved me with his lasts statement. Humble, thankful, and inspiring...WHILE crossing cultures. I grew up listening to TEN and hits from their other records as well...At the time I was actually more of a Nirvana fan - which kind of naturally pit me against the PJ fans in my high school (I'm American, not Nihonjin), but only for a short time, Vedder and his band member's talent eventually forced me to stop "choosing sides" and just admit to my prior foes in HS that PJ was awesome, and at least as good as Nirvana. I'll always respect and love both bands as well as the other groundbreaking bands from this day but in the end, PJ does touch the heart in a different way than the others. Vedder never worried about anything but the music and singing his soul through it, never cared about any perceptions or any of the bs that so many people are obsessed with. This guy is true to himself in this world, and is dedicated to his art. Not to detract from any other band by saying that but when you hear Eddie speak you really feel that he's talking to you at the same level as you. This guy will always be top notch in my book and I wish him and PJ the best forever.

Bj Vinci Variety Show Heart doesn’t count. Neither does Jimi Hendrix. His sentiment was a TIME and a place. He was describing a TIME PERIOD, and the place that TIME PERIOD occurred. It’s 1984-1996 Seattle. Soundgarden formed in 1984, and Green River formed in 1985. That was the beginning, but someone who is more of an expert would say: It actually started in 1981 with such-and-such a band. But Heart, who formed in the early to mid 70’s, was definitely NOT part of that TIME AND PLACE AND FEELING. Neither was Hendrix. Hendrix is less associated with Seattle than he is with London. London is where Hendrix became a star.

For example: I’ve seen someone claim something as ‘underrated’ about 5 minutes after it’s been posted. It wasn’t even out long enough to be rated by the general masses / critics. So my point isn’t that people should replace words with a different form of communication, but at least know what the words mean that they’re using. Read More
