Teachers LOVE a good t-shirt, and I realized I could turn that into a side gig. I used Crafted Threads for hilarious teacher-themed designs, grabbed a Cricut printer off Amazon, and started selling them to colleagues. It began as a joke, but now I’m selling to teachers across the district and even funding classroom supplies with the profits. If you're in education, this is a fantastic side hustle!

20 Year screen printer here. Finally someone who explains it RIGHT! From your coating process, which took me a bit to learn on myself, is the best... to loading the shirts. Personally i like to slide the coater a little bit side to side when i get to the top of the screen to get that extra. One thing i never understood, is how some printers prefer to print while pushing the squeegee and some prefer to print while pulling. Personally i've always pulled and i double print, never flood the screen with textile ink. Reason for this, the ink stays on one side of the squeegee You can see at the 11:07 mark, the ink is pulled from the squeegee leaving a trail of ink on the logo. The screen is touching the shirt, once that lifts, that trail shape will leave lines and it will appear on the print. Black is not as noticeable, but other colors show well.

@@karmatulip553 I've been doing vinyl for several years now. For very simple designs it's great, doing "one-off" jobs is ideal, even doing several colors is certainly doable but where it becomes a problem is if you have a lot of fine detail or small lettering. The "weeding process" can be frustrating and very time consuming, especially if you have more than just a few shirts to do and you'll wish you hadn't taken on the project by the time you're done. For that reason I'm going to go the silk screen method. . .better for large numbers of shirts and better for holding details that get lost with vinyl, not to mention the ability to do multiple colors much quicker and easier.

I made my first (handmade) screen in my basement in 1979. Sprayed it out in the laundry room sink. The process hasn't changed much since then but your process is super refined, fast and accurate. The biggest leap forward I can see is the scoop coater. I bet the the patent holder of the scoop coater is RICH. That is one cool device but probably takes some time to learn. Really good video. Thanks!

I've seen so many videos that are either blah or too complicated and not fun to watch or inspiring but your video is pretty much black and white (no pun lol) and to the point and simple for people like me. Hell one can start a family business like this and pay your nephews or kids $20 an hour to pump lots of shirts and of course over time and inventory bank some big bucks at the end. I just saw Avenged Sevenfold and Falling in Reverse and their merch tables were off the rocks! I wonder how those guys print their shirts etc. as I assume there are major companies that don't use this method...or do they? I don't know but your video is fun and inspired me. Thank You! Havent finished the video but wanted to add it’s advisable to wear a respirator when working with emulsion and when you clean the screens, depending on how ventilated your area is wearing one where you print and where you dry the shirts is also a good idea

This is so friggin helpful THANK YOU Only thing I would suggest is listing Amazon affiliate links cause legitimately I just want to get going now and if you get some cash for that all the better. But a list of recommended basic basic equipment to do the start to finish would be great. Amazing job again, answered all the questions I had exhaustedly going through other tutorials, thank you!

I came here because I googled a word on a forum for cleaning an LCD. That word was "flood-strokes" and I have to say, this was amazing. I am no longer interested in LCD cleaning and want to learn more about screen printing lol.
