Hi, what kind / brand of painting do you use ? Regards
@shellielewis83875 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of screen printing experience. It is best to always have a squeegee that is wider than your design to prevent varying thickness and visible lines from printing. I strongly prefer clear packing tape but I tend to print many copies of something and may need something more waterproof. A $1 spatula is my favorite tool to apply ink. If you do many pieces at once, let them air dry to the touch and then toss then into a clothes drier for about half an hour and it does a nice job of heat setting Speedball water-based inks. It may help if doing a free-hand process like this to make a painter's tape box the size of the silkscreen frame onto the shirt to help you target where the frame will be laid down before you get to wet inks in addition to using the registration marks. It helps to practice on something first like an old sheet or other worthless fabric -or even practice printing on paper, like newsprint or newspaper - so you do not stress on messing up and destroying a t-shirt.

@anthony48812 жыл бұрын
I would advise that anyone who tries this to put a firm surface inside of the shirt like a wood board along with felt over the top. The board prevents the ink from bleeding through to the back of the shirt, and the felt prevents ink from bleeding across your print. Put the tape on the back side of the screen so you can have a nice even pull with the squeegee. Use a larger squeegee- you should only need to do one pull per color.

Screen printing was my main focus in school and trying to transfer using all the professional supplies to a home based business has been hard but this is so handy! I love the registration marks and grouping your images. This helped me so much- thank you. Some tips I have if you’re using your screens multiple times is to use packing tape in place of painters tape and put it on the back side of the screen. It’s easier and stands up to more. Also, you can get screen savers that are basically a really sticky patch for holes in your screen. Helps them last so much longer. Keep up the good work! I’ll be using your tips in the future for sure.
@morganl26335 жыл бұрын
Also, we were taught to put the ink at the bottom and do one light sweep up and one firm swipe down for best results. I’ve found this is the easiest method for quick and effortless results. Question- do you use a heat press or an easy press? Thanks!

Great tutorial, I was trying to figure out how to use multiple colors and had a fail when I needed a white base so I could use red ink for a black shirt and my design was off just enough to look bad. This is absolutely amazing thank you so much you have no idea I want to do screen printing so bad and got turned off by leaving it in the dark this is so much easier you’re the best. Probably answer this question 1000 times. So you can make up to 10 to 20 shirts without fast you work after you have to clean it. How many times can you use it after that.? Before the screen starts to break? I saw aluminum screens on Amazon what’s the difference thank you so much for your time
@DIYAlex5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I'm so glad you found it helpful! Yes, you can make several shirts at once before having to clean your screen and make another stencil. You can't reuse the stencil, but you can reusable the screen until it rips, gets clogged, or gets worn out. The aluminum screens are larger and more expensive, but they are also more durable.

This video was so helpful in two ways. Working with Cricut and trying screen printing. I did not have that major seed money to start a full blown screen business. (over $3,000 if done professionally)

I'm so glad you found it helpful! I agree, screen printing this way is super cheap compared to the typical screen printing equipment.

An easier way to get the transfer tape off is to place a book under the screen to give it a sturdier surface. I use Chalk Couture ink. Works great and you have a great selection of colors.

I am so glad that I found your channel! You are one of the best DIYers I have found. Clear instructions, not a lot of unnecessary chatter and a pleasant voice! Thank you!! Why didn't you do the circle sticker on the neckline?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I didn't know about the sticker trick yet when I made this tutorial.

Can you reuse the stencils? thank you for your video!!
@DIYAlex5 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome Jennifer! You can reuse them for multiple shirts, but you can’t reuse them once the ink starts to dry. You have to cut a new stencil each time you use adhesive vinyl.
@jeni_bean5 жыл бұрын
@@DIYAlex oh ok what about washing the stencil to get the paint off and letting it air dry could it be reused then?
@MeliGatesSolis4 жыл бұрын
Jenifer Faith they stencil will loose its tackiness. But if you use plastisol based paint that will not dry, that is why water based is not very good when your going to use the stencils multiple times (unless you do it immediately)
@DIYAlex4 жыл бұрын
You will definitely damage the adhesive vinyl when you remove the vinyl from the screen. It’s just too fragile to be reused.

Great tutorial. Can you please tell me the fonts you used for this design?

Thank you! This is an SVG so I'm not sure what the font is in the design. It may be hand written.

Do you have to wait for each color to dry before the next color? Thank you for sharing.
@DIYAlex3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Each layer needs to dry in between!
@jordanhanson52202 жыл бұрын
Great video!! Do you need to put any kind of layer inside the shirt to prevent a bleed through of the ink?
@DIYAlex2 жыл бұрын
I don’t use anything and I never have issues, but you can use parchment paper or cardboard if you want.
