NOMAD Titanium Ultra Watch Band

​Thanks for the video. Nicely done. Here's my two cents though... People think that Titanium is more resistant to scratches than other more commonly used metals, and it is not the case. Mind you: There are different "grades" of titanium alloy and some are more resistant to scratches than others. My previous watch was a Citizen solar powered pure titanium wrist watch. Both the case as well as the band made of pure titanium. I love(d) that watch (still do), and I still own it, but after about 6 years of constant wear one can clearly see the scratches on the case and on the band. I actually welcome the "wear-look" on the watch. It looks rugged because of that. Titanium can be generally more resistant than stainless steel overall, but it tends to scratch more easily. Now, the biggest advantage of titanium is it being way ahead of most metals in terms of the resistance/weight ratio! THAT's where titanium shines. It's lightweight, and yet very resistant, albeit not scratch-proof. Peace, everyone. R. P.S. I also absolutely love the darker and less shinny looks of titanium when compared to some other metals...

I have bought Nomad titanium band and need to share my experience. First the product is awesome quality and look badass for casual and business. For sport you better have additional plastic or original cloth band. Yes it scratch over time(realy hard to notice), but its titanium and it does scratch. I have bought the band here in Czech republic, contacted support in US how to properly adjust the band with half links(if to remove original half links - they told me better not to). Customer service offered me 5 spare half links, they sent them on their expense by FedEx from US to CZE/Europe. It took only 7 days to arrive. What an awesome customer support!

Hmm, Titanium is a metal that is stiff, light also a low conductor (warmer than most metals to the touch) but its is prone to minor nicks and scratches. The Titanium band is mainly for the colour match with the watch. Nomad is merely a rebranding company that give the illusion of quality, thats something people neglect to understand. The value in a product is how unique it is, if there is a similar product, it has to have define distinguishing features that’s useful and beneficial to you.

Hey Eddie, thanks for the video but I don't agree with the points you make on why not to buy this band. I watched your video prior to ordering my Nomad titanium band for my Ultra 1 and you actually made my decision to purchase it easier. The shipping time (to Canada) took only 4 days (Dec 7th I ordered and received on Dec 11th) and given its getting close to Christmas I was blown away by the speed of delivery. Resizing with the Nomad provided tool was a breeze and took me about 20 minutes to get the band sized correctly for my wrist. Not sure how it could take anyone "a couple of hours" but maybe you didn't read the instructions. The color match is perfect with the natural titanium finish of the Ultra 1 so no complaints there. In terms of packaging, while its minimalist it certainly didn't bother me in any way, the band is the star and the packaging serves its purpose. I haven't had the watch long enough to comment on the finish and issues there, but like others I don't think it should be expected that titanium can't be scratched. Super happy with this watch band and personally think it is worth the money. This is not a paid endorsement and I purchased the band at full pop.

Good review Eddie. Personally I don't have a problem with lengthy waiting times (that's just how some smaller companies operate if they have a complex product to manufacture). But I have to say for almost $300, that I think they could have come up with a better way of altering the band size. For that kind of price, I think they could have used a similar method to what Apple (and I'm sure I have seen other bracelet bands using it to) used on their Link Bracelet. I use my stainless steel Link Bracelet on my Ultra and its a perfect match in my opinion, and it really dresses it up, it is a stunning band the Link Bracelet and I have owned it since 2016. I think Apple should make a titanium version of the Link Bracelet for the Ultra, although I could imagine the price would be eye watering!

As far as the tiny scratches you saw early on. That's the nature of consumer grade titanium. Its not indestructible. As a matter of fact normal grades of titanium will scratch much easier then stainless steel or aluminum. This is completely normal and probably why Nomad gave you some push back. The pins falling out is simply a life lesson. You now know there are different types of pins involved with watch bands. I'm sure by now you have found out there is far more different types of pins and screws then you were aware of when you made this video. Sometimes these types of mistakes are the only way to find out, unfortunately.

Have you already tested competitors like Sandmarc? What I really think is WAY better with the Sandmarc, is that it’s always „in a bracelet form“, even if opened. Just like true watch makers do it. So if it accidentally opens up, the watch won’t come off. Something I think Nomad just did plain wrong.

I actually love the unique way of Nomad clasp works compared to other bracelets. I haven’t heard anyone complaining about clasp security as well. Yes, I agree with you in regards to putting it on or taking it off you need to be extra careful

An interesting response to a so called premium product .Here is a disclaimer I have this watchband so can speak through my experience of daily usage . The packaging is certainly not what should be expected for the financial outlay the tool included is finicky and mine actually had a bent pin after resizing the band , they did send me a replacement tool which like the band took ages to arrive. This band has a type of coating that does scratch with time so I polished the hell out of mine with jewellers rouge and it s h I n e s , I was brave / foolish enough to do the same with the AWU it seems to sparkle and less prone to scratches . The Nomad Ti is the perfect companion to the Ultra having slightly more chunky links though it can look rather bulky on thin wrists like mine . When I fitted this band to my series 7 Apple Ti watch it was difficult to size falling between slightly loose and too tight causing the clasp to open and the watch to fly off , so like you I researched until I came up with the perfect solution the Bandwerk Ti band , probably the ultimate watch band and with a packaging experience to out shine even Apple !

I love mine so far. Titanium looks so dang good. Sleek. Do you wear your apple watch that loose and low? It’s supposed to be above your wrist bump and tight to your wrist to read your stats. Sounds like its too loose if you keep throwing it off? I don’t care about a box I’m gonna throw away. But the tool is complex and i bent one and luckily they included a second metal rod to push it out. I did it snug above my wrist bump, and it stays great! 10:17 Yeah that’s really low. Thank you for a very thorough presentation. I’ve got no idea why anyone wants to bother with these third-party bracelets. Why not just head straight to the source, get the genuine thing, cut out the middleman and just buy the Apple Stainless Steel Link Bracelet. No stupid tools necessary, no waiting months for delivery and it looks far more classier than any of these wanna be’s. Why install a Corolla drivers seat in a Rolls?

Why put a $350 band on a $800 watch... because the band shouldn't be 43% the price of the watch. If I was buying something like an Omega Diver 300M then sure, I may spend $350 to $800 on the band. This argument comes up a lot in the luxury market so I shouldn't be too surprised I suppose.

You may be missing the reason why most people buy these bands. It’s TITANIUM babe. 😉 Apple does not make one. And I will venture a guess that they don’t precisely because although titanium is a fantastic metal, it IS prone to scratches. It’s a lot more resistant than some other metals and to boot it is much lighter, but scratch prone! Can you imagine what a nightmare it would be for Apple if they sold bands that scratch easily…? Not only they would lose money, but also credibility. To enjoy titanium you need to be of a certain mindset: You need to want “as light as possible”, a metal, resistance, you need to like the grey(er) looks, and you need to embrace the rugged look that comes with all that PLUS the scratches, which IMHO add character to a “sports watch”. Same reason I hate DLC coated watches and bands when they scratch you can’t buff them out or you make it look worse. I owned the black dlc coated Apple Watch I ended up super disappointed in the end. All stainless steel will scratch, and titanium is actually more susceptible to scratching, no matter the price. I would say leather is the way to go if scratches are a dealbreaker

@@MrEddieNunez He probably means the loop band, the one that’s supposed to be “marine blue” but it is SO close to black that, yeah, it’s black. Made of rubber/plastic with the little holes along the band, not on it, but in it (sideways). That’s the one I chose when I first bought the watch. It is quite nice. Rugged looks, very comfortable, lightweight, it’s just not metal. It’s more for sport settings, and especially suited for SCUBA diving.

What are the better options please? I couldn’t find any. Sandmarc is not as good as it is scratches badly. I’m waiting currently on bandwerk one but is not due until new year. I have tried most other bands but as it stands I couldn’t find any good ones compared to Nomad unfortunately.

As a new Apple Watch Ultra owner, having a nice titanium or stainless steel silver watch band was one of the first things I wanted to get - only to discover that the original Apple stainless steel silver link bracelet costs 350 bucks which is simply too much money for me to justify only for the occasional dress up of my watch. The next in line which costs 300 bucks (still too much imho) would have been this one, but every detailled review I am seeing (including yours, great GREAT work btw!) just turns me off it - for that price too, this is how much money as I spent on my first Apple Watch, which included an Apple original band. So now I am thinking of getting a cheap 70 bucks titanium band for the

Good video. I bought a Titanium band from Amazon for $45 which included shipping and tax. It actually looks better than Nomad's version and was easier to make size adjustments. I don’t blame you, I think they ripped you off. Sorry you went through that. I’ve always had good vibes about Nomad but you've shown their true colors. I’m really surprised at the lack of quality.
