Really appreciate all the detail and analytic precision! The buckwheat whisky sounds so wonderfully unique and I’m really glad u got the Ardna CS. I think reviews over the course of the life of a bottle are ideal and invaluable. Very interesting and informative, thx Gregoire!

Yeah about the EDDU if there is a French distillery (hem, and I'm not even speaking about other countries ones) than can claim being about terroir, and a unique one, it is the Distillerie des Menhirs indeed imho...from field to bottle. There are others like D.H.G. (standing for "Domaine des Hautes Glaces" in the French Alps) who can claim it, but I haven't found yet an expression of them I managed to connect with (...). Hope you'll be able to try more French whiskies some day, And yes, the Ardnamurchan has developped very well....Cheers !

Can only agree with what Marc Lambert said. I should try and find another Eddu (shouldn't be too hard in my parts) as I bought a bottle on vacation in France and it was just really odd, in a nice way. Merci Greg!

Other distilleries now are nailing it (such as the TOS distillerie/Artesia/'Fût noir', I recently reviewed), in fact I just received a nice bottle i will review later, of another distillery in North of France (Wambrechies/"Madeira cask matured"+ samples). I tried the first release of Arbikie Rye and really, really disliked it, to the extent I've been avoiding it ever since! Incidentally: 51% Rye is the qualification level for the American one, which is why things like Rittenhouse and Pikesville are referred to as 'barely legal'...

Thanks, Andrew, yeah I know about the 51 % but forgot to mention it clearly....Yeah I had a big sample of the 2018 & liked it only after it's half or so, it needed a lot to breathe, so I understand your reaction....I definitively consider they should work more on the recipe & cask choices, but it's just my opinion...That said, it is not only mine & yours, mind you, as Serge Valentin (Whisky Fun), gave a 69/100 to the 2022 release (I haven't tried), just saying...
