@@BrendaDrummElectric Avenue is in Brixton south London and is the first steet in the UK to have ekectric lighting. Brixton is the centre of the black community and was the scene of riots in April 1981. This song was released in 1982 and was about the Brixton riots. When I first heard the song I was 8 years old I couldn't speak English I came from another country and when I heard this I said whoa this music is awesome in my own language then I began to speak English and this was my favorite song that I love so much this song has a lot of meaning today there is violence in the street and we all need to get together and start the violence and stop the hate against all Races against people that have different nationalities homosexuality Etc we should not judge we should accept people and let God be being control of what is right and what is wrong we should love each other regardless and stop the hating against violence of any situations I wish one day I would meet this guy he is such an amazing person to me his song has a lot of meaning and it really stands out for what's going on in the world back in the day in the 70s in the '80s the '90s and now it's 2000 so violence is still there this song really needs to stand up all across the world to show the world that we can stop the violence regardless of what's going on in the world stand up for what you believe and stand up for what is right and the right way with peace

World peace is bout to happen. Let Father Rathzinger do his love of the world by in Africa. Let the black and Caucasian man in America hug each other . Let the childrens laughter remind us of how we used to be. Learning to love yourself it is the greatest love of all He had a dream. When children black and white be playing in the Play ⏯️ ground together Michael our main man said WE ARE THE WORLD WE ARE THE CHILDREN WE ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE A BRIGHTER DAY 🌏🇺🇸🇮🇱🇯🇵🇰🇼🇲🇱🇨🇱🇮🇷🇵🇭🇵🇷🇳🇴🇺🇾🏴🇨🇮🇨🇻🇩🇲🇩🇰🇨🇭🇬🇧🇦🇨🇧🇶🇩🇬🇨🇵🇪🇺🇩🇿🇲🇵🇲🇶🇵🇰🇵🇭🇹🇹🇺🇾🏴 SO LET'S START GIVING.There is a choice we're making in sharing our own lives. It's true we make a brighter 🌟 day just you and me. There is a man living in the 🌎 world today who knows the existence of the KING TO ARRIVE SHORTLY. The 🌎 world must agree to a cease fire in their wars and drop all weapons. Still get to respect national borders and hood turfs. If a man can not forgive his brother how can he expect CHRIST to forgive him? And if you are human you are my brother! I love you. HE asked Peter: Do you love me? Peter replied, yes LORD you know that I love you. We are all each other's brother's keeper. Can the MAN heal the sick and dying when the world finally transforms their swords to plow shares? YES HE can! Can this wonderful MAN once again take but a few fish and loaves of bread and feed a hundred or more multitude? YES HE can! God created angels. The athiest scientist would disagree. A simple existence in a dark void we call space on a world once believed to be flat is the womb ot a woman, and since was born as a human he created son of a living GOD who GOD HIMSELF has the ability to transform into material human existence. Can GOD, ELOHIM, JEHOVAH, ALLA, THE ETERNAL DO THIS? YES, HE can!! So, anyway, you tell me who can say I belong to a race, nation, political unity, church, cathedral, temple, mosque, shrine, or maybe even a social group of people who believe they are the few individuals who are the righteous chosen of this biased god? The answer to this question is nobody. Every single hair among thousands is accounted for on our billions of heads in an interaciall planet of a multinational society. Every hair on an afro, under a hair net, twisted in braids or tails, black and red, brown and blonde or white for the senior citizens or that man has no hair GOD loves all. If the man has no hair due to a hatred organization GOD loves him also, but be fully aware that the KINGDOM will have no racists before or after It exists in the spirit world, after the final collection of souls in the era of humanity or any place in the infinite realm of GOD'S universe having no begining or end. There will be no hatred spirits resurrected as the KING of the Earth will not allow; with an army of angels at a minimum multitude of 52,000,000 (52 million) combined but uncountable and perhaps infinite in quantity in an infinite and invisible in 4th dimension spirit light beyond the speed of light. Yes Michael one of the 3 arch angels with Gabriel as Lucifer has fallen have a blockade against racists from supernaturally entering Heaven. This ALLA, ELOHIM,GOD,, JEHOVAH, OR ETERNAL that created the angels created them similar to all of mankind one of mongols watching the Orient and middle East, one of color the African man, and one of no color adaptable to colder climates. Three types of man as begotten of HIM and three types of angels in the spirit kingdom. There will be no racism, sexism, and no biased feelings as we all enter or exit through the gate of pearl in a KINGDOM with steets to walk on made of gold beyond any in the whole world more valuable 10 tiimes. The greatest treasure in the world is wisdom. So, be wise and love yourself first in order to love your brother. Lay down your weapons of bad feelings and pistols of hate. Follow me and you will follow this MAN I know WHO is my brother. HE is coming soon to rule the Earth as KING of kings to the king of China, to the king of America, to the king of France, to the king of Australia, to the king of Saudi Arabia as Mohammed All inhabitants of the world will be rewarded by this MAN. Food for the hungry, shelter from rain, and freezing cold, plenty of goods and services, and worship him whether burning incense in temple to GOD BUDDHA in mass to GOD living as Spirit in Holy Father, or however you like. Can a man forgive another for bondage and lashing? Yes, we must say in order to consider Egyptian power, the throne of Spain in the Americas, Rome as one time, masters of columns, delicacies, and navy, and but until 1865 in the United States man has been considered property and not a free human being. I forgive you brother with the knowledge you the same. And all of the gold, jewelry, milk, honey,.men servants, maid servants, fruit, meat to eat, trucks, cars, the right to live in even large tents all we can have the golden age offers we share ! ! ! Christi THE SON GOD .,.m 🇨🇱🇨🇮🇮🇷🇺🇸🇵🇷☮️✝️✡️🈶🇯🇵☯️🌏

I’m watching this in 2020. I remember when the song came out in 1983; I was 13 then. I loved and still love the song’s Caribbean beat and the catchy chorus. Yet I had a feeling that Eddy had a message in the song’s lyrics, especially because of the beginning “Out in the street, there is violence.” Thanks to the www I learned about the history behind the song. If anything, I’ve read that Eddy has always stood for peace ☮️ This song definitely has stood the test of time.

That whole band is absolutely living their best life! I LOVE seeing that energy, they know they're doing something important. And this is one of those songs that has a story more people should know. Him performing it in South Africa is even bigger. It's about the Brixton riots in April of 81 against the violent and racist over policing of the black Afro Caribbean community in that neighborhood. The Clash wrote the Guns of Brixton about the same riot. Seeing Eddie Grant in his 60s kill this song in South Africa is a beautiful thing, and again...that bassist is absolutely loving, living, and every second of what should be recognized as a pretty important piece of rock and world history.

En 1984 escuché por primera vez está canción, tenía 18 años eran esas discos donde hacían tardeadas para los jóvenes sin venta de alcohol...lo máximo, y ahora a mis 54 años la sigo escuchando

Love those back up singers. So cute. Often live versions of songs are not as polished or tight as the recorded ones, but this just kicks ass.....faster and more powerful than the version we all know. Thanks for this..... Do your homework and find out why this song was written........................

Do your home work, sir. And then maybe you'll stop referring to the backup singers with such a patronizing term as "so cute" .... a little respect.
