My dad and his dad were in the same class at LaVega H.S. My dad played out as well as Billy Joe.I followed in my dad’s footsteps and am still playing out. Eddy followed his dad too. Only got to meet Eddy 1 time at Tommy’s in HOT music in Waco. Tommy introduced us. Wish I’d gotten to know Eddy more. He & I had a lot in common. I’d have liked to ask him about playing for Dwight. Maybe I can one day. Another awesome musician taken by the “Business” and all that revolves around it.

So do ever wonder if Pete Anderson copied his licks , or did Eddie influence Dwight's album really as Pete just played Eddie licks
@JohnJCash11 ай бұрын
No disrespect to Pete Anderson, but he ain't even a blemish on Eddy's guitar. He's playing to the best of his ability, like many others, the licks he's heard. Eddy was unbelievable. And may have been had he hung around, the very best for just all out head cuttin'.

God bless you for posting. I was able to see Eddy & his father the Oct before he passed. I think about the last time seeing him at that small bar on the ala, fla line. Dope takes so many, but for some of us it's a way to kill the pain. That night I was flying high, watching Eddy on that fender. Months later I picked up a paper and there it was the death of Eddy left to die in some lonely hotel room. I'm trying to do better, turning to the good Lord for help, May God rest your soul Eddy Shaver

As a recovering addict thats somehow survived all this when I shouldn't have, when I deserve to be a the bottom of a prison cell starving and getting beat like a rat, when I should have been burning in hell for the things I've done that still keeps me up at nights, wondering, I still wonder how people like Eddie here, that just seemed to have it all and would never ever had to go "there" at all, did and didn't make it back. My heart hurts a lot these days 💔 I don't have answers like people think an old grey man thats made it and didn't deserve to should or would have. Maybe? Nah il just go on.

There's a road runs clear to the sky Calls to my spirit calls to my heart She's been a harbor a port in a storm She's got one more sundown and one more dawn Fiddles don't make violins Motel rooms don't make homes You can't turn water into wine You can't make a rocks from a rolling stone I'd be a liar if I said I'd changed There's a river of freedom running through your veins But she'll be there in your heart and your mind Till the last song fades and the music dies

I love Billy Joe as a writer and performer, and Eddy is just about as good as it gets (when he's not this high) but when your dad is using, and you spend every day and night on the road with him, there is only one way that a boy is going to go. And I'll just wait for the shit storm to start falling, but his dad fell way short on this one. Step one is to remove the user from the environment (danger zone) Billy Joe knew that Eddy was using, but I assume that as he did nothing about it, his career was more important to him. RIP Eddy
