I saw another video where the crossover was filled in, and the dual feed was used to supply fuel to both bowls. Any experience with this mod? Recommended or waste of time?

I'm going to do this off-road upgrade to an AVS 2 1906. What would you recommend for jetting? Or should I just stick with what it comes with? I'm at 700ft elevation, but can get to about 6-7000ft in the mountains around me. I just wanted to see if there's a certain jetting that would be good for both ends of those elevations and in the middle? Thanks!

I switched to TB FI for my daily driver for better drivability but I sure do miss tuning carbs - I like the hands on carb tuning/rebuilding. Love your videos, keep 'em coming. Oh, almost forgot, how do you adjust carbs to compensate for ethanol in gasoline?
@MuscleCarSolutions
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
Generally you’ll go a little fatter than we did 20 years ago before ethanol. It’s why I love tuning with an AFR. Makes that process so much more precise and way quicker. Though E10 isn’t that much more to compensate for. It’s the other junk it drags into the fuel system that really plays havoc with a carbureted system. Thanks for stopping by!

I have an edelbrock 1906 AVS2 on my 77 Chevrolet pickup, my idle is perfect at 14.0-14.5 on the wideband, "cruise mode" is right around 13.5-14.0, "Power mode" around 13.0 and WOT at 12.5-12.7. All of this is perfect in my opinion BUT, right off of idle, think going down your driveway at 1000-1200rpm, 5-10% throttle, my wideband drops to 12.0 and stays there until I get up above 1500-1800rpm and 10-15% throttle, it then leans back out to 13.5-14.0 I've messed with timing, rods/jets, everything I can think of but can't seem to get that spot to lean out any. Somebody suggested the idle air bleeds are too big or too small, can you elaborate on the idle air bleeds and how to correct this issue? Thanks!

It’s painfully expensive, but FAST makes a killer dual O2 that’s Bluetooth capable so you read the output on a app on your phone and can use it under hood, in the cab, anywhere around the vehicle. I have their single O2 Bluetooth and it’s extremely valuable when tuning/driving.

Watching the video and doing the same job to my abs2, but my nozzle doesn't have those two brass protruding pieces on it, is that normal instead? I'm talking about the first mod in the video. Instead it has this brass double winged plate that goes over it that the bolts go through. Mine is an AVS2 1906, it's about 3-4 years old I think.

Good video as expected, but yes I noticed the chrome carb but I have driver quality cars and trucks, not show. As a matter of fact last year at Iola car show, new rule to keep hoods shut. I used to be an avid off roader but not so much anymore. Just one non related question, I have a '77 318la all stock except intake and carb. and dual exaust. Intake is stock 360 cast, and carb is eddy avs2 with 4bbl disconected. Currently is jetted to the leanest setting in chart and still is rich, Do you think I can put say a 098 jets in primary and get it closer? I watch for a used 500 cfm avs2 but dont really got 400 bucks for a new one. I was trying a thermoquad, but seemed to have better luck with the avs2 on adapter. I have seen vids say run a spreadbore on a spreadbore intake. Have a good day, Will probably try jet change today, pretty cold here in wisconsin. I do have various jets and rods for the thermoquad.
@rogerdodger6888

OK, I'm back, took carb off and I'm suprised it ran as well as it did. Found floats a little high, and almost forgot to check but did, I took accelerator pump squirter off, and no ball and weight, that explained running rich. Your vids made me look. Runs good and sounds better! Still would like your thoughts on thermoquad vrs edelbrock. Looking today the venturi area looks way tighter on the smaller primary thermo, edelbrock has much larger primarys, I'm looking for performance and economy, (and sounding good!!)
@MuscleCarSolutions
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
Not a fan of the thermoquad. If you’re comfortable tuning it and that’s what you want, go for it! As far as performance goes, I’d give that edge to the Edelbrock. But that really depends on what you mean by performance.

@MuscleCarSolutions
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
The 1465 is the spring loaded needle and seat kit. That’s a great place to start. But yes, the spring in place of the weight is also a good upgrade point and it’s only available in the rebuild kit.
