Let's say you are just braking in a new cam with matching lifters. Do you suggest you still run the break in oil for the 500 miles before changing the oil and filter? Even though the rings and bearings are already "warn in" Edit: Also, when soaking the new lifters, am I to assume soaking them in the breaking oil too? I plan on using Amsoil break-in oil.
@MuscleCarSolutions21 сағат бұрын
@@johnnyturbo8460 your challenge isn’t going to be in the break in oil. It’s going to be in all the other factors that play into a successful break in. But yes to your question. Run the break in oil for the first few hundred miles. Won’t hurt anything in an already broken in engine. Keep watching the series. There’s a lot that’s covered of where people make the biggest mistakes.

My 350 Chevy has no baffles in the valve covers. So....the pcv valve hooked to the carb pees oil into the carb and smokes. Makes it run horrible. So in my situation without changing the valve covers, I just put the pcv valve connected to a drain hose. It goes to the ground. Problem is I have to add oil every other week. Now, my pcv is stuck and I'm getting leaks from odd places. One is at the timing chain cover at the 12 o clock bolt. I took it out and fixed it and no longer leaks ...but....now my timing chain bolt at the 2 o'clock is leaking. Can a pcv really create that much pressure to cause these kind of leaks?
@MuscleCarSolutions6 күн бұрын
@@StageShout yes. You’ve got a bigger problem than just the PCV. That much blow by in an engine only means it’s time for a rebuild.

@MuscleCarSolutions It's a brand new rebuild. Runs great and has for the last 4k miles. Leaks came out of no where and when I shook the pcv....it was stuck.
