Would it have been easier to purchase the lokar gas pedal assembly?
@NashvilleEarlyBronco Жыл бұрын
Possibly, I haven’t looked into that option
@williamcovert7180 Жыл бұрын
Well you got it working and didn’t need to! I’m fighting this part of the install now and am going to try what you did here. Thanks, for the video.

I'm installing an Edelbrock Pro Flow 4 system on a 1971 Mercury Cyclone, 429 CJ engine. I need a bracket like yours. The stiff accelerator is due to the extra strong return spring in the throttle body. I think it's too strong. No reason to be that strong, but I don't see any way to lessen the spring tension.

I am in the process (going on 3 years) of doing a total restore on my 1971 Bronco,306,ProFlow4,AOD,Dana 20. I didn’t experience the issued that you did. Here are some suggestions. I purchase a couple longer carb studs, using the same Edelbrock bracket, I installed some 1/2” spacers under the bracket. This brought the bracket up to clear the fuel rail. Allowing the use of the outer slots in the bracket. This brought the cables, both kick down and throttle inline with the throttle linkage. I made a small L-bracket for the return spring (same one that came with the ProFlow4) that uses the inner slot of the bracket. As mentioned previously probably don’t need the return spring. The one on the ProFlow4 is quite strong. I made a small plate that I mounted to the gas pedal assembly, where I ran my Lokar braided throttle cable through. On the pedal arm I cut off the original linkage post, which left a perfect hole to mount the Clevis from the new cable. I had to make a small bend to the pedal arm so it line up with the cable housing. I called Lokar and inquired about running the cable in a loop like you did or In a small S-turn. They recommend the small S-turn, which makes for a much cleaner install. I did that and it works great! The Lokar Kick-down cable runs to the lower bracket beneath the carb bracket and lines up perfectly and just clears the fuel rail. I don’t know how to add photos here on KZbin so, if you are interested in some photos I can send them to you. Email me at sb4x4trex@icloud.com. Good luck with your projects,

I might have missed something here but you can trim the cable to desired length ? How about the bracket ? Adjustable works ok?
@NashvilleEarlyBronco4 жыл бұрын
Yep, you can trim it all to desired length. I didn’t do that in this video but I’ve done it before

nice setup. did you reuse the fitech fuel pump? I just bought the pro flo 4 for mine and am converting from a POS fitech. edelbrock told me to buy a regulator

May be a dumb question, but why switch to the throttle cable? Is it an option to stay with the stock linkage? Thanks Jon!
@NashvilleEarlyBronco4 жыл бұрын
The stock linkage didn’t reach. It worked with the FiTech, but not with this set up

If you are not happy with the feel of the gas pedal, here is a alternative that I found ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2m6lqx-btydeKs ). I used it on my 73 Bronco with an adjustable bar but it would be easy to make it work with a cable. The alignment is good and it operates smoothly. This is an old video so prices have gone up. I paid $50 including shipping this year.

Do you recommend the Pro Flo 4 for a 302 with a lift of 550? I just have a street car with all the bolton mids. I just want more streetability and reliability than the stock ECU. Car is a 91 Mustang with factory EFI.
@NashvilleEarlyBronco4 жыл бұрын
Man, it’s hard to beat factory EFI. It was tuned specifically for your car. Proflo is sweet though
@dmh13674 жыл бұрын
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco the car is modded. I just want a better way to adjust it and monitor it. The handheld in the Pro Flo seems like it would help do that. Thoughts?
