Yo, I put an Edelbrock top end on my 327 cu in mouse motor. I tell ya, this setup rocks! The motor runs so strong now. It really came alive when I took out my manual trans and installed a 700-R4 with a 2,800 lockup stall converter and a set of 4-10 gears.That little motor just screams! It comes off the line with amazing fortitude and determination! This setup works wonders. I was not able to buy the kit all at once, so a piece at a time had to do. Just the heads alone added over 40 HP. One thing for sure you all must do when it comes time to break in that flat tappet cam. Turn it in the crankcase as little as possible to set the valves. There are ways to do this in very few revolutions. Setup distributor timing and for heaven sakes don’t forget to add in some advance timing before you attempt a start. Then start and bring up rpm right away to 2500 and stay there for 30 minutes. The headers will turn red hot! I made the mistake of not putting in some advance. Wouldn’t start., got a friend to help. Made it worse. Kept changing timing as we cranked. Finally got a start, but too late. I drove 5 miles. Engine died. Pumped gas pedal and cranked, and cranked. Then there was ignition! BOOM! Both mufflers got shredded and it was heard for many miles. I pulled the distributor and the gear was ground away gone..the cam was destroyed. Lifters trashed. Took it all apart again and this time put in advance. Started right up. Today I really love this little engine. Just runs so strong and sweet for its size. 🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍿🍿🍿🍿.

@truckandroll9894 жыл бұрын
gottagoat so i think what they are getting that is to take advantage of the modifications you would want a “performance ignition tuneup”. Id say to be safe set your total ignition advance to 34 degrees (pretty standard). Idle ignition timing is a bit tougher since that depends more on your application. Maybe somewhere between 12-18 degrees. All a “retuned distributor” means is like a standard aftermarket distributor which usually brings in the total advance sooner

Its honestly not too bad. If you have done a cam swap before its pretty standard. Tear down is probably 1 full day. My one big tip on the reinstallation is to wait to install the intake until after the valves are lashed. This will allow you to be sure the pushrod is seated in the lifter and it is easier to spin the pushrod in your fingers. Maybe like 3-4 days for the rest. Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!

That is wild!!! I suspect the US is going to have a harder time just because of how spread apart we are geographically and our lack of public transit infrastructure. You are likely right though that maybe cities can start this legal action (NYC for example). However, California will be difficult given how heavily people rely on the interstates to get around. So many people wont be able to afford green alternatives. I wonder if they will start buying back ICE vehicles as a credit towards an EV purchase
